Bio
Benton Kevin Stokes is a singer/songwriter, born and raised in Nashville, where everybody plays a guitar and Elvis was always in his dad’s eight-track player.
He picked out popular melodies on his grandmother’s piano at age 4. Made up songs while riding his bicycle at age 8. Played his first original instrumental piece for a packed out War Memorial Auditorium at age 15.
After college, he joined a band, made a record and toured the country for a couple years. He met a lot of interesting folks, wrote some more songs and discovered dramamine.
His time on the road led to cuts with a number of successful Christian artists and a writing deal with Sony Tree.
During a long period of self-discovery, he left the music business to work in a coffee shop and return to his love for writing transparent songs about life, love and hope.
The songs he wrote and recorded over the next three years became ‘Grace & Gravity,’ his first solo record.
He is a proud dad, an eternal optimist and a habitual dreamer. He doesn’t watch much TV, but loves to go to the movies. He finds life is usually stranger than fiction.
He’d love to come and play some songs for you.
Benton is currently writing songs for his next collection, 'Turn Off The Moon,' which he will begin recording this fall.
