Die gebürtige Seychelloise Bergitta Victor ist eine Musikerin mit kulturell heterogenem Background. Die Nichte von Patrick Victor, der als einer der bedeutendsten Musiker der Seychellen gilt und sich in Europa u. a. auf dem renommierten Montreux Jazz Festival einen Namen gemacht hat, verbrachte ihre Kindheit und Jugend sowohl auf der malerischen Inselgruppe im Indischen Ozean als auch in Tansania, bis es sie schließlich mit 11 Jahren in die Schweiz verschlug; nicht ohne an jeder dieser Stationen ihres Lebens die unterschiedlichsten musikalischen Einflüsse in sich aufzunehmen.
Ganz klassisch gründete sie noch in ihrer Schulzeit ihre erste Band, bekam wenig später ihre ersten Bookings als Sängerin auf Hochzeiten und Geburtstagen. Auftritte in Clubs und auf Festivals nutzte sie zur Verfeinerung und Erweiterung ihrer markanten Melange aus traditionell kreolischer und afrikanischer Musik auf der einen Seite sowie Jazz, Soul, R`n`B und Pop auf der anderen. Mehr und mehr wuchs das Repertoire der Sängerin an eigens geschriebenen Songs und somit auch die Arbeit mit Produzenten. Zudem häuften sich Auftragsarbeiten wie Jingle-Produktionen oder Backing Vocals Support für einzelne Künstler und Bands aus der Pop-, Reggae- und Hip Hop-Szene, die Bergitta Victors musikalische Bandbreite bis hin zu Chill House- und Trip Hop Projekten weiter bereicherten. Zuletzt war sie für die in der Schweiz bekannte Castingshow »Superstar« auf dem privaten Sender 3+ als Vocal Coach der Kandidaten aktiv.
Trotz ihrer Flexibilität und musikalischen Offenheit sind es Namen wie Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, George Benson, Cassandra Wilson, Me’Shell N’degeocello, Luther Vandross, Roy Ayers, Tracy Chapman und Minnie Ripperton, aus denen die Sängerin ihre größte Inspiration schöpft – Namen die für gefühlvolle, und tiefgehende Jazz-, Soul- und R`n`B-Musik stehen und deren Anspruch Bergitta Victor auch in ihren eigenen Songs (z. B. »Je mehr« oder »So deep«) stets hochhält.
Seit Juni 2006 hat Bergitta Victor ihr Schaffen in die deutsche Hauptstadt Berlin verlegt, wo sie Vocal Coaching anbietet und an neuen Songs bastelt. Und wo sie der Stadt trotz ihrer Überfülle an Sounds noch einiges Neues hinzuzufügen weiß.

Bio
The roots of her music lie in the Seychelles where she spent her early childhood.
BERGITTA VICTOR was especially influenced by her uncle - musician Patrick Victor -
who over the past decades has made a significant contribution in shaping the music
scene of the Indian Ocean islands. In 1993 Patrick was invited to appear with his
Seychelles Sound and Dance Group at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival.
At the age of 11, Bergitta came to Switzerland after the family had lived some time in
Tanzania. She discovered a new, dynamic world of music: Jazz, Soul, Rhythm & Blues
as well as pop music. Among her favourites were songs by George Michael, Taylor
Dayne, Johnny Hates Jazz and TPau. Founding a band at her school was a natural
progression and soon Bergitta was singing at weddings, birthday celebrations and
festivals. Yet not confining herself to singing, Bergitta was writing her own songs at an
early age.
Gradually she met up with various producers and was asked to sing jingles, backing
vocals for bands in the Reggae and Hip Hop genre, and to create her own tunes in the
field of Chill House and Trip Hop. However, Jazz, Soul, and Rhythm & Blues have
remained close to Bergittas heart. Musicians such as Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald,
George Benson, Cassandra Wilson. MeShell Ndegeocello, Luther Vandross, Roy Ayers,
Millie Jackson and Minnie Ripperton have profoundly influenced her own music. Her
personal music is a mixture of Pop, Soul, Jazz & Worldmusic & more!
Bergitta released her first EP called **je mehr** in November 07. Produced by Martin
Schlegel.
Her debut Album *SESEL* will be released by the end of August 2009.
