Bio

Summer in Berlin often sounds like Kingston/Jamaica. This kind of feeling is also presented in winter - by Berlin Boom Orchestra. The nine band members play urban reggae, dancehall and ska just the way this music is supposed to be: with a rich horn section, organ and sunglasses. Special vocals emboss Berlin Boom Orchester’s German songs. In the tradition of Seeed, Culcha Candela and Ohrbooten they are the latest Ska/Reggaeband from the ‘capital of citybeaches’ putting the heat on the republic!
Smooth baselines and precise, passionate drums- as well as percussion riddims are mixed with catchy harmonies and melodies. Groovy rich horn sections create a unique sound, that is both enticing and absolute danceable. There is something for the heart, as well: Solos to melt and lyrics that seem to speak directly from people´s mind: „ I am not waiting for the good life, that I may have, I take it now with both my hands, cause I will not follow the mass...“
The debut album was produced from the famous MKZWO/Township Records reggae label, which just entered the charts with the artist Ganjaman.
Fresh and juicy sounds the new album. It combines long-forgotten worlds of modernity: traditonal ska is again and again rocked by parts of dancehall music, easygoing reggae songs are spiced up by V-drum-effects. And what about the dancehall? Sung in German language Berlin Boom Orchester it purposely includes non-mainstream elements of dancehall and takes a stand against homophobia and avoids discrimination of any kind. Funny songs are presented as well as social critical ones.
Meanwhile the band has become so popular that it had not been without reason that they were announced as „probably Berlin´s best Reggae- and Skaact“ on a charity party of the Berlin Yaam Club last December. This is also due to the gripping show, which is magically performed by all mates with a lot of fun on stage.
The band is going to present five new reggae- and dancehall songs on the ep „Live in Kreuzberg 2009“.

The distinctive Boom Orchestra fastly enthused the Berlin’s ska- and reggae scene sharing stage with Yellow Umbrella e.g. on a Caribbean Festival at Yaam in July 2008; followed by celebrated support gigs for the scene stars like Bluekilla, Rude&Visser aka Mr. Review, D-Flame, Mad Killah, Benjie, Baby Love and The Van Dangos, THE SKATALITES or the Toasters.
No matter if home game or abroad, no matter if main act or opener, no matter if 10 or 10000 people are in the audience: Berlin Boom Orchestra has always enthused them and they look forward to elating the rest of the republic. The highlight up to now was a bombastic show in 2008 in the, with 800 guests, overcrowded Kato. The audience changed the location into a burning and celebrating cauldron. The band played its second largest gig in front of thousands of people, during the carnival of cultures on the Eurasian stage and gained many new fans. Besides, there was a highly acclaimed show on the International Popkomm Reggaefestival, where the band supported Skatalites in the sold out Kulturbrauerei in 2008. Only their own record release party with tropical heat in the nearly sold out So 36 topped that.
The band started at a high level with 60 shows up to now and they were booked among other things for the following bands: Skatalites (JAM), The Toasters (USA), Rude & Visser aka Mr. Review (NL), Contra Coup (USA), Yellow Umbrella (GER), The Chancers (CZ), Bluekilla (GER), Karamelo Santo (Arg), Los Placebos (GER), Axl Makana (ex Mutabor / GER), Die Tornados (GER), The Special Guests, Palmeras Kanibales (VEN), Babylove & The Van Dangos (DK), Makako Jump (IT), Skarface (F), Two Tone Club (F), Nosliw, Irie Révoltés, VolkanikMan, Ephraim Juda, Black Gandhi (ESP), Benjie (GER), Junior Banton (GER), Paco Mendoza & Ponto de Equilibrio (BR),
