Lush, haunting, radio-friendly pop music

Biography

Bernadette Moley is a singer/songwriter with a striking presence, a soft Irish accent, and a quick Irish wit. Her music is lush and haunting, reminiscent of Dido and Sarah McLaughlan.

She was born and raised in Ireland during the height of political turmoil. At a time when barbed wire checkpoints, gun raids and shootings were commonplace, she found solace in music.

Spurred by a culture that would sooner sing than speak, by age eight she had an interest in singing and songwriting. She learned to play the guitar at age sixteen, to the annoyance of her brother. It was his guitar.

Bernadette’s background reflects both of her artistic passions – art and music. She attended Athlone college of Graphic Design, and Screen Animation Ireland. Ultimately she turned her focus to her first and strongest love, music. She attended the Parnell School for the Performing Arts in Dublin, where she studied guitar and voice under Frank Merriman.

In 1996, with a lottery won US Visa, one thousand dollars (borrowed), a guitar, and a reluctant cat, she emigrated to LA to pursue her musical and artistic aspirations.

While working a “day job” in animation for Disney (drawing such characters as Mickey Mouse and Tarzan’s Jane), Bernadette joined the band “Mag’s Element” as a vocalist while she worked on her own demo of original material. The songs on the demo caught the attention of Robert Hoffman and Heather Holley, of Elicit Productions, who credits include Christina Aguilera, Michael Jackson, and Quincy Jones. Bernadette is currently in the studio with Elicit, recording songs for an EP.

Lyrics

Brief Moments

Written By: Bernadette Moley

Verse 1:
You jade me
You make me feel it's never going to happen for me
You fail me
Disbelieving love is nothing but free.

I should be happier than this, happier than this,
Happier than this, and I know

Chorus:
Brief moments, sweet words of love are scarce to see
Brief moments, always hoping they'll reach me

Verse 2:
Berate me.
Leave me standing childlike and motionless to view
It drains me to think of all I question since falling into you.

I should be happier than this, happier than this,
happier than this and I know

Chorus:
Brief moments, frail words of love are scarce to see
Brief moments are fleeing farther from me

Bridge:
Don't you know by now
Are you scared of me
Can't you say the word,
It's your history
Come out and face me.

Verse 3:
It pains me
Remembering everything we had and battled through
It changed me
But still I float the hope it's happening for you.

I should be happier than this, happier than this,
happier than this, happier than this, happier than this and I know

Chorus:
Brief moments, strong words of love are scarce to see
Brief moments, sweet words are all I need
Weak moments, are all that's holding you to me

Love To Me

Written By: Bernadette Moley/Rob Hoffman/Heather Holley

Verse 1:
Grand exclamations of his love are far between
Raining roses, shining gifts are seldom seen
For a long time left with such uncertainty
Till the day it all dawned down on me

He plants the garden and mends the fences
He feeds me when I don't have the senses

CHORUS:
It's love, it's love, it's love to me,
It's love, it's love, it's love to me
It took so long for me to see
It's love to me

Verse 2:
They're at odds, the languages we speak
We need to find a common ground to meet
Shroud your mind up in an old condition
You'll never realize the full fruition of love

What it can be
When it settles on it own identity

CHORUS

BRIDGE:
When he speaks love do you feel love
When he proves love is that true love
Does it matter how he'll show it, with a gesture, as a poet.
Just so long as you know it.

CHORUS

When I Do

Written By: Bernadette Moley

Verse 1:
There are days boy
Days I could strangle you
Days that we’ve burned

There are times, lad
Times when it all explodes
Nothing to learn

But when the ions shift on a dime
And the new moon shines a new shine
You’ll find, you’ll find

CHORUS:
When I love you, I love you like crazy
Nothing can stop me, nothing can save me
When I love you, your image shakes through me
I can’t get enough of you, there’s naught you can do for me
When I do

Verse 2:
I know there’s moments,
Seconds of weakness
Heads can be turned.

But there’s something
Stronger that holds us,
Puts end to the yearn

But when the ions shift on a dime
And the new moon shines a new shine
You’ll find, you’ll find

CHORUS

BRIDGE:
The truth is I love you through thick and through thin
The bad and the ugly, the yang and the yin
There’s nothing to stop it, I’m focused on you
You need you get used to it
It’s just a thing that I do.

CHORUS
