Bio

Immigrated in Montreal via Poland at age three, the least we could say about Bernard Adamus is that he has perfectly integrated his adopted hometown. In fact, he turned his working-class neighbourhoods into the center of his songs: Hochelaga, Centre-Sud, Rosemont, their streets and residents become heroes in a new kind of urban fables. Mainly influenced by blues, he first establishes himself by covering this touching and honest genre of music. He then took this touching honestly to his own French lyrics, giving birth to his first solo project, Le Rvrend, from which Bernard Adamus reclaimed identity releasing his solo album Brun in spring 2009. The album is just as entertaining as it is moving, and presents Bernard Adamus as the missing link between Plume Latraverse, Lucien Francoeur in AutChose era and Sba from Gatineau. Acclaimed by critics, the artist was also rewarded by the Festival de la Chanson Peitite-Valle, giving him 6 out of its 10 prizes. Then in October 2009, it was SOCANs turn to reward him with the Echo Song Prize, an award dedicated to rising starts in French song-writing for his La question 100 piasses. Keeping up with the honours, he then won the Francouvertes 2010 contest. In the summer of 2010 he performs two headlining concerts, both sold out, at FrancoFolies de Montral. Bernard Adamus later toured the rest of Qubec, playing shows almost every night. Recently awarded with the Prix Relve Archambault, Bernard performs at lAutre Gala de LADISQ. His talent keeps being noticed when, still in 2010, ADISQ (Qubecs equivalent to the Junos) gives him the award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year. A few days later, his Coup de Coeur Francophone performance at Club Soda is sold out and his single Brun still airs on Qubecs francophone radios.
