"CD REVIEW: THE STORY OF HER LIFE BY BETH NOBLE"

The Story Of Her Life – Beth Noble’s new EP release, comes with two fresh singles and three equally vibrant tracks to even out what is an overall outstanding first effort by her. She went from dancing in her family’s restaurant in Texas, to ultimately pursuing her great-grandfather inspired ability to write and play music because he was a fiddle player that performed with such greats as Ray Price and others. The music is country based with some pop, gospel and even rock elements to it, which makes for a great combo of tunes that anyone can enjoy, also with lyrics anyone can relate to.
“All I Need” is about keeping that good spirit around and not allowing those negative vibes to bring a relationship down. It’s a matter of faith as far as she’s concerned and that’s written all over it in the lyrics. But it also relies on universal appeal, rather than merely preaching the good word. It’s a wholesome way to open the release and get the tempo established. It shows an ability to swing with whatever needed to instantly get the interest pumping and go from there. And it doesn’t end quickly as it plays in just the right timing to make way for the next track which is an automatic step in a different direction.
“God Has a Plan” is probably lyrically the most serious track of the five on offer. It’s just as playful though, so it finds middle ground without any fuss and bother. This is a great number in its own-right, with some well-played banjo to musically spice it up just right. It stacks up to anything here, but it comes off more lyrically direct, and that is where it might get a little heavy-handed for some, but it rates flawless with me. If you keep listening to this it will grow on you, so don’t dismiss it as containing anything less than the rest. If this track does one thing, it’s play consistently throughout to seamlessly blend in with the others.
The EP picks up on “The Story Of Her Life” which makes not only for a killer title track, it also gives her voice and lyrical prowess a chance to shine right in the middle of four other gems of the same caliber. This is about as good as it gets for any current female country artist to my ears which don’t travel in country circles as much as the next, and it still turned me onto more country. If that doesn’t say anything about this song, I’m not sure what can. It’s the absolute peaking point of the entire EP, and it manages to stay with you like it should. That is why it gets my pick for the best track by a small edge, but an edge is an edge.
If you’re not won over yet, “Stupid Girls” adds just the right energy to keep you on track, with its lyrically most comprehensive number. This is where Beth Noble’s voice gets undeniably awesome at keeping your ears busy with every nuance. It contains equal power as a single as the opening track and helps prove its place to be one on an EP that isn’t easy to do that with because they’re all made with hit singles quality. And that is a testament to her debut EP and all the songs on it. There is not a step lost in the closer “See Me” as it takes things out with a steady rocking pace and shows everything Beth Noble is working with, and that is a solid bunch of people and skills. - Mike Tabor

"Beth Noble - 'The Story Of Her Life'"

Beth Noble’s EP – The Story Of Her Life, features her debut singles “All I Need” and “Stupid Girl.” Beth began her career singing gospel hymns and dancing at her family’s catfish restaurant in Quitman, Texas. Her affinity for music is deep-rooted and began with her great-grandfather, a renowned fiddler who played with legends such as Ray Price. This five track EP packs an album’s worth of music, which makes it a long-player and effortlessly helps shed any EP concerns country music lovers may have about their content limitations. It plays like an album and that is the first compliment about it.

The EP kicks off with the lead single “All I Need” to get the show on the road, and it’s a good start but it only hints at what’s to come. Her voice jumps right out at you though, and that is always a good sign. It’s a fun- loving track with a wholesome quality and a radio-friendly pace.

The positive vibes pick up in the mid-section when she starts flying on the vocals, and it all ends on a good note. The next track, “God Has A Plan” she sounds melancholy on vocals and the harmonies are second to none. Beth Noble uses the vernacular of tonal qualities that make a song great, no matter what’s she’s singing.

On the title track, “The Story Of Her Life” she proves everything she’s worth, exemplified in just one song. This is a track that harks back to all that was once good about music, when everything sounded great or it didn’t get heard by the masses. It comes on strong from the first note and everything about it just rocks. The guitars wail away as she sings with pure excellence with a crisp sounding vocal mix. The purity in her voice is featured with precision in every verse. This track defines the whole EP and helps it flow more like an album. It’s worth pointing that out as much as anything else on the EP.

The second of two singles, is “Stupid Girl” which also carries a big vocal sound, and lyrics that round it off nicely with an accessible track once it’s over and you want to hear it again. Never mind the subject matter, it speaks for itself and that’s obvious, but it’s how she conveys humility that give it its most honest delivery. It has that something which Beth Noble is clearly trying to say in the lyrics, and when you combine that with the rest of the efforts it turns out to be a solid addition to the EP, and a smart choice as a single.

Every ounce of pain is felt without overdoing it, and that’s only some of the magic found in these songs.

This record contains a little of everything Beth Noble is saying to the world, with songs of regret, change, and the driving motivation to keep going as she shares her feelings. It comes out just was well in the closing cut “See Me.” I’m usually less interested in EP’s and singles than full length LP’s, but with everything Beth Noble brings it just gets better as it goes on this well-written, produced and arranged EP. In-fact, the final track stands up to the opening track with ease, and that’s following the right pattern these days to put out consistent content, which in a nutshell describes Beth Noble and her music. - Larry Toering

"Beth Noble"

Austin, Texas based singer songwriter Beth Noble is rocking airwaves across the country and it's easy to see why. "The Story of Her Life" is, hands down, one of our favorite Albums of the summer. Beths extraordinary vocal range is complimented by the instrumentation of her band, which includes her father on guitar. Her songwriting is contemporary yet nostalgic, reminiscent of artists past who have left their footprint on the country music scene.
We recommend "the story of her life" to any young girl who is on the path of writing her own story. - Zeda Royal
