Bio

bethany dick was born in rural montana in tobacco root mountains near billings.
she was raised in a cabin which had no phone, electricity or running water until
she was 12, homeschooled by her mother and her father, who is an oil landscape artist. deprived of the cultural advantages of milli vanilli and twisted sister, she graduated immediately to alison krauss and union station and traditional fiddle music. by age 15, bethany was competing and most times winning fiddle championships both at the regional and national level.

bethany also began writing songs at age 17 and in 2000 won the merlefest bluegrass gospel songwriting contest with her song "come the morning". bethany recorded a version of this song (which charted at #2 on the bluegrass gospel charts) on her first album "the beat of my heart”. at 21 she relocated to nashville and soon after began playing fiddle, mandolin and guitar for country singer sara evans. two years later she joined pam tillis' band playing fiddle, mandolin and singing backing vocals. bethany also released her second solo album "this beautiful life" in 2002.

ever grateful for these wonderful professional opportunities, bethany was not content and knew that she needed to make her own music, so in 2006 she quit
the road as backup musician and began concentrating on her solo career. moving to atlanta in 2006, she began to play shows with her own band while also doing a handful of recording session work. one of these sessions was with mac powell of third day on the album "glory revealed". in april 2007, bethany toured with mac powell and friends for the glory revealed tour. bethany is also putting the finishing touches on an eponomously titled ep set for release in early 2008. bethany wrote or co-wrote all the songs on the album and it represents a new direction in bethany's musical journey - a blank canvas of which her artist father could have only hoped for.
