"IMP: Twelve Releases in Canada on May 19th, 2010"

TORONTO, May 19th, 2010 - Seneca College IMP students are showcasing the diversity and raw talent of Canadian Musicians. As the twelfth group to go through the Independent Music Production program at Seneca College, these 18 students are bringing their creative and artistic talents to a collective point and creating their final cd, Twelve. The CD release party will be taking place at the Rivoli, located at 332 Queen Street West at 8:30, with free entry and free copies of Twelve. May 19th will be a night that embraces a wide variety of musical genres and will be sure to entertain.

As a collective group of musicians, IMP Twelve features a variety of different musical types, including: folk, pop, punk, rock and hip-hop. Rather than just any musical collaborative cd, IMP's album Twelve illustrates the musical talent of young Canadian artists, but also showcases the different stories, views and perspective of varying individuals.

Coming out of the Seneca IMP program, a competitive and challenging musical program for independent artists, this small group of musicians are armed with the skills and determination to not only survive in the Canadian music industry, but to thrive. Studying under the instruction of talented and successful Canadian musicians, producers and engineers, the artists have taken their creative craft and applied new techniques and tools to take their music to the next level. Twelve represents their accomplishments, but it also displays the upcoming musicians of the Canadian Indie scene, bringing with them not only a love of music but the strength, determination and pride that represents the heart of Canadian artists.

Bio

Since first playing the piano at the age of ten, Bethany Geddes has been diligently practicing and performing since. Having studied classical piano through the Royal Conservatory of Music, Bethany went on to further her musical study at Wilfrid Laurier University under the direction of Joseph Ferriti, a classical pianist who has performed throughout Europe, Canada and the United States. She also studied under the direction of Jason White, studying Jazz theory and piano technique. However, since writing songs from the age of fifteen, Bethany has morphed her love of classical piano repertoire with her love of creating and has come into her own style of music, classical-folk-pop. She has performed at many locations around the Waterloo area including regular performances at The Shops and Button Factory. She has since moved to Toronto to study at Seneca College in the Independent Music Production program and continues to further her study of the piano and her love of composing.
