BETRAYUS

Betrayus was formed in central jersey a little over a year ago with guitarist Steve Quakenbush and drummer Chris Marvel. Steve, at the time was playing guitar in a cover band and Chris was jamming out with Steve when they had the time. Over time they decided to start a band and held auditions for bass, Rhythm Guitar, and Vocals.

The role of bassist was taken over by John"O'Toole" Yanvery, the former drummer for metal/ industrial band Methodical. the Rhythm Guitar was picked up by Paul Grebelny, who entered Betrayus as a his first band. The last element of the band was found shortly thereafter. Aaron Smith, front man for bands such as, Annie’s Grave and Cause W/out Reason, joined Betrayus in November of 2008 as their lead singer. together they have created a distinct style with soft and haunting melodies mixed with tribal, heavy rhythms.

Since the completion of the band lineup Betrayus has dedicated themselves to writing music that allows them to be true to their metal roots while still growing musically. Betrayus has spent the past six months honing their style and playing shows. They recently finished recording their debut EP., Shedding Skin, at Underground Sound Studios with Billy Graziadei of Biohazard.

Currently Betrayus is looking forward to playing more shows and eventually touring the tri-state area. Until then look out for Betrayus and their hard hitting rhythm and melodic dissonance coming to a venue near you.
