Betsy Chapman

Betsy Chapman's white trash roots are in the hills of Carroll County, just outside of the Mississippi Delta. Her whiskey-drenched country songs reflect the poverty, religious fervor, and red dirt of the place she came from - ranging from pure honky-tonk heartache to haunting Southern gothic narratives to rollicking "garage-billy" numbers. Influenced by whiskey, sex, Jesus, and Flannery O'Connor, her songs come from a lonely, painful place yet are tinged with a biting, wicked humor. She is currently recording her first full length album with Jimbo Mathus, of Squirrel Nut Zippers fame, at his studio Delta Recording Service in Como, MS.
