This band started in the summer of 2009 at Fat Fest, a music festival in Wabasha, MN. Bettina Villamil was billed to play a solo set on the side stage. Taking advantage of the close proximity of so many talented musicians, Bettina wrote out quick charts and invited 8 musicians to come join her for the whole set! The chemistry was amazing. Since that day, Bettina Villamil & Friends now has 3 of the musicians that joined the impromptu from Fat Fest playing now as core band members. To keep in the spirit of that performance, Bettina Villamil & Friends invites different recognized musicians for tours and in town gigs.
Bettina Villamil & Friends currently plays a weekly Monday gig at the DownTime Bar and Grill in Minneapolis, MN. This sets the band up for constant renewal and creates a cohesive group of musicians. Each musician brings his/her preferences and influences into each song to create a rejuvinated sound. You might hear Bluegrass songs with Sax solos, or electric guitar solos. Or, vice versa, Jam music with electric fiddle and rock n roll with acoustic fiddle! You are guaranteed to find a style you like with Bettina Villamil & Friends.
