In today’s music scene it’s much harder for pop vocalists to stand out above the crowd. They have to have the freshest, most unique take on the standard pop song in order to obtain staying power – and even with that, they have to be able to keep the vicious cycle going, over and over again to stay in the spotlight. The pop audience tends to have the shortest attention span of all the genres. But in the midst of all of these obstacles, Bettinna, an up and coming self-defined pop/punk singer in NYC, shows herself as having definite potential as a pop icon. She has as much attitude as her locks are long, with a dash of funk and the love for the game.

Bettinna is currently in the studio working on an album, so her fans will have an opportunity to hear her at her refined best. Her pre-album recordings establish her dedication to the craft and proves outright that she wants to make a name for herself. Her attitude is not lacking in any way and she backs it up with a rough around the edges image.

It’s not hard to see how Gwen Stefani is one of her coveted icons, through her look and vocal styling. The track, “Little Black Dress” emulates her Stefani fixation, but ends up being a bit more of an imitation rather than showcasing her as a comparable singer. Her vocals fall a bit flat but her attitude and styling ring true. “Cupid” is a perfect mix of rock/punk instrumentation. Bettinna’s vocals are stronger on this track but the melody is a bit weak and doesn’t showcase her range as much as it could. The lyrics are catchy and pure pop, but are somewhat awkwardly paired with the melody in certain parts. Nonetheless, it is extremely catchy and is definitely a track that will stay with you once the music has stopped. “You Are My Drug” is the most creative and fresh track so far. The melodic pan flute is a nice and needed touch. This song has a much more R & B feel than her previous two which ends up showcasing her range of musical taste.

Bettinna’s current recordings show that she still has a way to go but her determination and studio experience will help pave the way to stronger talent.

Bio

Do not underestimate this glamourous Canadian born vixen
nor her pretty punk voice, for she knows
how to unleash when it's necessary.
She's here to change the perception
on chicks rockin including black girls rockin.
Wise beyond her years. One wouldn't think
from looking at her, she lived a hard life.
Everything you see is an illusion.

She grew up in Boston in an unstable home.
Barely legal, she left home to live
in shelters with bums, freaks, junkies,
murderers, bankrobbers, one eyed ladies,
trannies, les, gays, porn stars, rock stars,
& movie stars. Worked as a pinup queen
to make money so she could move to the big apple.
Arrived in the big city in the wake of 9/11.
Depression kicked in when money ran out,
but was saved by music. She rocks the mics at local clubs.
Got New Yorkers, Southies & Northies of Boston to get up & dance.
Now she's ready to rule the world with her music.
Come into her world.

She's Blonde & Bitchin
With pretty brown skin.
Half pop, half punk
The black Madonna of Rock.
