BandEDMSinger/Songwriter

Imagine yourself in a dimly lit club late at night in an unfamiliar town. There is a small stage and on it, lit in blue, is the unmistakeable form of a woman. A Southern Creole Elvira. Although her face is partially hidden in the shadows, what your imagination conjurs up will arrest you.

In her voice you hear the depth and the innocence of a girl finding her footing as a woman. In her lyrics you hear vivid and sad tales of love and lust. Swarthed in dreamy slide guitars, soft pads of synth and the warm haze of Southern Comfort straight up, you are in the presence of Betty Black - The modern American Southern gothic songstress. Not unlike a shadow, she is a mystery, and not unlike the shadows she comes as the sun goes and leaves when it comes again....from where? To where? We can't say for sure.

"Born from the shadow of another who lived her life in color"

The transformation from blossom to full bloom began with the voracious frontwoman of K.U.D.U., Sylvia, Sylvia the Ill, Sylvia G., writing and producing along with partner Deantoni Parks.

Sylvia was born in the Southern United Stares in a small Alabama town and bounced around the country every one to two years gathering information and transforming at every turn. Daughter of a radical
black American M.I.T. graduate/ex physics professor and daughter to a strong German immigrant, computer engineer Mother, her personality was
fused from a constant battle with, as well as a love for, her American society. Surprisingly to have come from a heavy handed background of science and technology, Sylvia favored the arts. Always involved in performing and music from a very early age, Sylvia's first real job was a 3 month stint in Japan as a lounge singer in a resort hotel at age 17. A graduate of music school, she earned many accolades for her bass playing. She later dropped the bass and found inspiration in the streets of New York City for songwriting. Using any instrument that
made a sound a tool for writing. Sylvia has always earned her living within the realm of music be it corporate or with other recognized
artists. A true talent with a wide range of musical capability, Sylvia has been found in studio or on recordings with the likes of Moby,Telepopmusik, Armand Van Helden, Spankrock, Q-Tip, Boom Bip, Mulgrew Miller, Butch Morris Orchestra, and more.
Her partner in Kudu, Deantoni Parks, does his fair share of collaborations worth mentioning...from recording and tours as drummer with John cale, The Mars Volta, Me'Shell N'degeocello, to name a few.
Together they brought forth a new and creative sound in Kudu. But every ready to move onward, as sylvia has grown accustomed to all of her life, she decided to shed her loud and technicolor trappings to reveal the stillness of night that lies on the other side thru Betty Black.
