"The Beu Sisters Say “Be U”!"

The Beu Sisters first appeared with their debut album, Decisions in 2002, toured with Kelly Clarkson, and had a generous amount of success on soundtracks to movies like “How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days” and “The Lizzie McGuire Movie”. Famed record producer Steve Greenberg helped launch The Beu Sisters, then made up of real life sisters Candice, Christie, Jilaine and Danielle. When Greenberg left Columbia Records, that also left the Beus’ follow-up album shelved.

After turning down numerous reality TV shows, which were at the beginning of its hype at the time, the sisters decided they needed to put family first, and regrouped. Jilaine decided to leave the group while Candice and Christie each had children. They lived a fairly normal life, each taking on common jobs to pay bills. Music and art never left them, though. The girls decided to launch their own record label, Beach Breakz Records, moved in together and built a very small home studio.

The Beu Sisters began working on their latest EP, Beu-tiful Vol. 1 and explored artistry in every aspect of their career. When I spoke with the girls at their release party on June 2nd at Planet Rose in New York City, they joked by calling themselves the Von Trapp family since they even used curtains to make their costumes. While Danielle and Candice handle designing costumes, Christie handles most of the vocal arrangements and choreography. The group also receives a ton of help from their large family, pointing out their younger sister Gabrielle who was working the door at Planet Rose that night.

With the girls and their family’s hard work came many “divine delays” as Candice called them. Christie added how this time in their lives and careers has been a true test of their faith, explaining how things would go wrong. For instance, their turntables didn’t show up until an hour before their release party that night! Thankfully, things have worked themselves out for these strong-minded Beus, and they always believe things will work out.

The first single off the new EP is “Definition of a Lady”, which is now available on iTunes. The song has a bit of a hip-hop flare to it and basically explores the notion of a woman being confident in who she is. The video for the song was directed by Nicholas Vedros and shows the Beus as little girls dreaming up who they’ll be when they grow-up. Now that the first EP is out, the Beu Sisters will be promoting it around the country before hopefully embarking on a tour.

The Beu Sisters combine beauty, talent, creativity and individuality in such a unique, noncommercial way. If you want something to inspire you, your children, and through those moments of uncertainties we all go through, check out The Beu Sisters–you will be stronger, bolder, and more beautiful for doing so. - StarShine Magazine

"Beu Sisters Are Back With New EP 'Beu-tiful Vol. 1'"

Candice, Danielle and Christie Beu are back. The sisters were born in New York to Broadway actor parents, so it was a homecoming of sorts when they showcased their energetic pop/rock sound (with a hip-hop vibe) at Planet Rose.

The sisters who backed up “American Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson and Clay Aiken’s on their 2004 Independent Tour, are promoting a new EP entitled Beu-tiful: Vol. I

Candice, 36, Christie, 33, and baby Danielle, 24, performed their first single from the EP, “Definition of A Lady” and “Daze.”

The singers are part of a family of eight brothers and sisters. They’ve been performing as a group for 16 years. Sister Jilliane, once part of the group, was there in a support role along with their momager.

Their Broadway veteran parents (A Chorus Line) left New York in 1988 with their eight children and moved to New Smyrna Beach, Fla.

Following their divorce in 1994, the girls started singing with their mother, backing up such as Billy Ray Cyrus and Bo Diddley.

Award-Winning Songwriter Desmond Child (Kiss, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith) discovered the girls and introduced them to Record Producer Steve Greenberg (Joss Stone, Jonas Brothers).

They were the second act he signed to S-Curve Records and their first album Decisions debuted in 2002. Their sassy personalities and natural beauty made them standouts.

The girls went to work for Disney on such projects as the double platinum selling album Lizzie McGuire Movie Soundtrack, Home on the Range, How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, Because of Winn Dixie, Ella Enchanted, Smallville, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gilmore Girls and Charmed.

They were also featured on Disney Channel specials like “Disney’s 50th Anniversary Celebration at the Hollywood Bowl,” “Disneymania II In Concert” hosted by Raven Simone.

Their work won them a contact with Sony/Columbia Records, but the sharp decline of the music industry put them in a holding pattern and the family finally decided to end their contract.

The returned to New Smyrna got day jobs and both Candice and Christie had children.

The girls waited on tables, cleaned condos and gave music lessons, while plotting their comeback, which has taken the form of Beu-tiful: Vol. I, the first of three planned EPs.

They wrote, arranged and recorded all 32 songs on the six-EP collection, through their own label Beach Breakz Records. Their songs mark a return to their roots and feature their soaring three-part harmony.

"The Beu Sisters Interview with Mikey Jayy summer 2011"

The Beu Sisters aren’t amateurs when it comes to music. Previously known as a teen pop sensation, they sang light-hearted songs targeting a younger audience. They were widely known for their music in Disney films like, Home on the Range, Ella Enchanted, and Lizzie McGuire. Their song, “Catch Me If You Can” was featured in the hit romantic comedy, How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days. Their music was also featured in television shows including Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gilmore Girls. They were featured on MTV and toured with musical acts like Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, and many others.

Almost a full 10 years later since they debut their first album, Decisions, they’ve separated themselves from the majors and opened their own studio near their home in Florida to produce and release new music independently.

Earlier this year, Candice, Christie, and Danielle Beu released a six song EP called, Beu-tiful Vol. 1. They are soon to release Vol. 2 and Vol. 3 will be released later this year. I haven’t heard all of Vol. 2 and Vol, 3, but you can tell they’ve taken off the reigns and now they’re making music by their own creative decisions.

If you were a fan of their previous work, their sound is completely different. Some of their older work had a pop country feel, reminiscent of the Dixie Chicks. Today, they have a more urban symphonic edge, combined with a little vocal a cappella soul, similar to the vocal style of En Vogue back in the early 90s.

In conjunction to Beu-tiful Vol. 1, expect to get a copy of Beu-tiful InVersions Vol. 1. This five song EP is a collection of the their same work from Vol., but a stripped version of the songs, which is a pleasant variation.

Keep an eye on their latest single and watch their music video, Definition of A Lady, directed by Nicholas Vedros. This song not only represents their new style music, but it gives you an idea where they’re headed as artists. The Beu Sisters grown up, sexy, and they sound better than ever.

Bio

Our inspirations flow from the universal one song of LOVE. Through ingenuity, peace, and unity, we hope to heal lives and touch hearts joyfully with the gift of music.”
~ Beu Sisters

Born into a musical family, Candice, Christie and Danielle Beu learned from an early age to appreciate and understand all aspects of the entertainment industry. The sisters, encouraged by their parents, Broadway veterans (“A Chorus Line”), steadily developed their collective and individual talents.

In 1988, the Beu family (parents and eight siblings) left the bright lights of New York City for the serene sounds of New Smyrna Beach, Florida. By the end of the ‘90s, the parents divorced and the sisters unified through music, performing on stage with their mother, opening for major artists like Billy Ray Cyrus and Bo Diddley. They soon came to the attention of Award-Winning Songwriter Desmond Child (Kiss, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith). He introduced them to Record Producer Steve Greenberg (Joss Stone, Jonas Brothers) and the sisters became the second act signed to S-Curve Records.
In 2002, their debut album “Decisions” was released and received rave reviews. Billboard Magazine wrote, “While the environment for instantly accessible melodic music is often hostile at top 40 radio these days, one must remain optimistic that true talent will rise to the top. THE BEU SISTERS demonstrate enormous versatility on their upcoming, DECISIONS. All involved should pop the champagne cork for an effort that radiates joy, humor, passion, and artful, unaffected singing. These gals are simply wonderful.”

As singers and songwriters, the sisters soon garnered numerous movie and television soundtracks: (Double Platinum Selling) “The Lizzie McGuire Movie Soundtrack”; “Home on the Range”; “How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days”; “Because of Winn Dixie”; “Ella Enchanted”; “Smallville”; “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”; “Gilmore Girls”; and, “Charmed.” Quickly becoming a Disney fan favorite, the sisters were featured on “The Disney Channel,” Disney’s 50th Anniversary Celebration at the Hollywood Bowl, “Disneymania II In Concert” (hosted by Raven Simone), and a multitude of Disney albums. They then expanded their existing fan base by opening for “American Idol” Alums Kelly Clarkson and Clay Aiken on a 32-city tour.

It was at this point in their blossoming career that the tides shifted. The sisters were signed to an entertainment deal with Sony/Columbia Records, but delays led them, as a family, to the unanimous decision to return home to their seaside town and release themselves of all contractual obligations. This process took time and the sisters soon found themselves waiting tables again, teaching vocal lessons, gardening, cleaning homes, and performing locally. However, during these lean times, they also found themselves putting down roots, growing families, and cultivating a new vision for their creative dream.

Today, the Beu Sisters are a self-contained trio, expressing a Pop/Urban sound that blends mystical melodies and affirmative recitations over neo-symphonic beats. The artistic rendering of the sisters' orchestral, 3 part harmony creates the dynamic foundation of this unique and refreshing musical experience. The first single and video, "Definition of a Lady," captures their playful journey of self-expression and creative empowerment with elegance, grace and beu-ty.

On their own label, Beach Breakz Records, this Florida family has written, arranged, produced and recorded all songs from their upcoming compilation of 6 EP's entitled A Collection of Beu-tiful Music. In this diverse collection, the Beu Sisters offer a variety of musical entrees to satisfy a variety of musical tastes. In Beu-tiful: Vol. I, II, & III, the EPs appear in their original form, flavor and content (with original artwork by Danielle Beu). However, Beu-tiful InVersions: Vol. I, II, & III, offers a little something different for the gourmet listener. The "InVersions" deliver a palette cleanser to the heavy beats served on the original 3 EPs. In this edition, every track has been masterfully stripped to the bare essentials, revealing the intricacies of harmony, select instrumentation and lyrical content within.
