It is their musical style and the genre that they favor that is reminiscent of the ocean;Jazz and Swing performed playfully, freely and "wide open".Gentle and strong, titillating and bold. Full of surprises. - Hi-Desert Star-Yucca Valley, Ca.

"A Fat City Profile"

This past Monday night,a charming and talented songstress sat down at the piano and delighted the customers of the Cellar Lounge by singing a wide variety of songs. Old standards and ballads flow like magic from the lips of Beverly Derby. Beverly is a local girl, raised here and went to our schools, including a stint at Loyola. Her background in piano and voice is extensive. Beverly returned to New Orleans not long ago from the West Coast, where she has been performing for several years. Beverly has been singing her heart out every night except Sunday at the Cellar Lounge. Welcome Home Beverly! - The Times Picayune-New Orleans

"Duo does justice to Big Band hits, other favorites"

The Rib Co. is swinging with the musical stylings of Beverly Derby and Bill Church.Derby on keyboard and Church on trumpet play some of the most recognizable tunes from previous decades-- "Route 66","My Satin Doll" "A Train","Mac the Knife" and "Old Cape Cod".It is obvious that they have a good time playing, and they also give renditions that the original composers can be proud of. Derby says "We are a small band that plays Big Band music".While they also play a variety of music, that's not what sets them apart from other acts. The fact that they are a two person ensemble with a trumpet player is a rarity.Out of all the places they have played, Derby enjoys the British Isles and Church enjoys Amsterdam. If you would like to see them in action, stop by the Rib Co., where the hostesses are sweet and the music captivating. - Hi -Desert Star-Yucca Valley Ca.

Bio

Beverly and Bill are both life long performers and accomplished musicians. Beverly Derby was born and raised in New Orleans La. and the New Orleans influence is apparent in her vocal style.
Bill Church exudes" The Chicago " down and dirty blues sound , but also can play with simplicity and purity.
They met at a sizzlin' jam session in Palm Springs Ca. and just love working together. While not fitting into any trendy pigeon hole , people love their music, and they are always in demand. They just have that "something" !! Many people have commented in a positive way about their uncommon instrumentation(piano and trumpet).
