Bio

I've been singing for as long as I can remember. In fact, when I was a little girl, my parents instituted a "no singing at the dining table" rule. At the time I assumed the rule applied to the whole family but, in hindsight, I can see that I was the one targeted. I guess my parents, brother and sisters deserved their eighteen (or so) minutes of peace every day.

Both my mom and dad were big fans of The Rolling Stones. My dad also loved bluegrass and country, anything he could play along to with one of his many harmonicas. Being the baby of four, my musical inclinations were the last to make it to the hifi. My sibs played Chicago, Squeeze, The Sex Pistols and everything in between. I loved it all. If it was music, I found a way to sing with it. By the time I had the stereo to myself I’d fallen for the music of Elvis Costello, Billy Joel, and the Gershwins.

My career in musical theatre has planted a deep love of story songs in my heart. James Taylor’s music showed me that all good songs tells stories. I guess that’s what I hope to do. I’ve had the great honor of singing all over the world. What a blessing to be paid to do what I love most. I’ve always sung for my supper but I feel I’m just now finding my voice.

So what do I play? Check out my music and decide for yourself. I think it’s folk...with some pop and jazz and maybe even country thrown into the mix. In the end it’s really up to the listener to decide. Ahhh, the beautiful subjectivity of art.
