I got a line from this band last week and was über-positively surprised by what they have on display! Bewized is a Greek band, coming out of Thessaloniki, the second biggest city in Greece. The band joined up in 2007, but the line-up of the four current constituent members is of later date. The band released an EP in 2008 and then worked hard for two years on their debut album called The Scorch of Rage, scheduled for worldwide release in early 2011. Found a video, directed by Bob Katsionis (bottom of that post), for a song called Laceration of Innocence, which is from that album. Crunching riffs, runs and grooves. Some melodic leads too, but mostly the solid, hard stuff. The hard and thumping stuff, with a good solo and a short mellow part following it. A slow breakdown too. Bewized is a four-piece groove metal / metalcore band from Thessaloniki, Greece, formed in 2007. The current lineup of the band comprises Paschalis Theotokis (lead vocals, guitars) and Pantazis Theotokis (bass) who are the founder members of the band, Orestis Georgiadis (lead guitars) and Kostis Tatsis (drums). Former members were guitarist Theodoris Papadopoulos and drummer Giorgos Gafaridis. Followers of the new wave of american heavy metal vulgarly imprinted by pioneering acts such as Machine Head and Lamb of God, along with metalcore influences from Trivium and Killswitch Engage, Bewized forged their own sound, shaping it notably theirs.
"Carved Upon Your Bones" was their first attempt to establish their presence in the underground metal community. A self-financed demo EP, that was released in 2008, which drew favorable reviews from the Press. This demo EP was a propitious approach, but only a compelling force for the band to come and settle into existence. What labels bewized is fully depicted on their more mature full-length debut album (11 songs) entitled: "The Scorch of Rage", recorded at Noise Factory Studios (Thessaloniki, Greece) by Christian Rahm, mixed and mastered by Fotis Demertzis at Mix Studios (Thessaloniki, Greece).
In November 2010, Bewized inked a deal with Casket Music (a division of Copro Records, UK) for a worldwide release of "The Scorch of Rage" made on April 25th, 2011. Late 2010 also found them with their first official video directed by Bob Katsionis (Nightrage, Rotting Christ, Suicidal Angels) for the track “Laceration of Innocence”. Numerous sources reproduced their stuff; from video hosts (BlankTV[US], Rockenweb[ES], Deathmetalbaboon[NL]), webzines (fuctART[GR], Wretched Spawn[UK]), TVshows (MTV Headbangers Ball[GR]) to online radio stations (Hard Rock Radio Live[US], IMB Radio[US]), which ultimately led Bewized to see a global recognition and exposure. Currently they are preparing for their forthcoming UK tour in order to promote their album, spanning from July 15th - August 1st, 2011.
