Bio

Bibi Adell (nee: Barbara Ellen Spidell) is a Nashville based Artist in Music who began her career as a multi-medium performing artist and figure model near San Francisco in the early 90’s. The leggy soprano is recognized as a virtuosa, and a conceptual, and/or production artist who has worked in the business almost 30 years. For nearly a decade she worked in an art studio owned by Richard vonMagnus, a former member of The Family Dog, a famed production company run by Chet Helms and Stanley Mouse; erstwhile she sang with popular Bay Area neo soul group The Real Imposters. She began her company now called Artists in Music (A.I.M.) in 1994. It was around this time she began to demonstrate a six octave singing range, an ardent attention to world musicology, an interest in percussion, and dubbed The Tall Cool One in the Bay Area, or later in latin Bibit Magnus because of her classical leanings after returning to Milwaukee. Today she performs with Stax & Chess Recording artist, AND the first RIAA platinum songwriter in the history of songwriting, Atlanta’s Harvey Scales (& The Seven Sounds), and currently tours from Nashville with triple platinum recording artist Chicago’s very own Paris Delane. A self described art tarte and word nerd, she began her affair with the arts by the age of 7 when she developed first an affinity for poetry while growing up in a self described atmosphere of being under-privileged in a cold, dank, industrial, yeast smelling, yet intrinsically musical burb, near Milwaukee, WI, which ironically is an area home to “the world’s largest music festival” according to The Book of World Records, called Summerfest. Besides a recognized soprano virtuosa, historian, producer and promoter, publicist, poet, and a performer, she has not only performed and booked, but also managed a stage for BurningMan at Center Camp Café 2002 and then Milwaukee World Festival, under the auspices of Associate Entertainment Director Vic Thomas, for both Summerfest (’03 &’04) and Harley Davidson’s Harleyfest 100th & 101st Year Anniversaries. Ironically, she was a former stagehand at Potawatomi Bingo Casino Northern Lights Theatre (’99), and subsequently she was also used in their recent television spots (’11). She worked as a fashion model with Jillina Medici in the 90’s, and as an actress and muse in films by notable cult classic filmmaker Mark Borchardt by 2002. She can be seen in films like “No God No Master” Directed by Terry Green, and starring David Strathairn, and Sam Witwer, and briefly in “Modus Operandi” Directed by Frankie Latina, starring Randy Russell, and Danny Trejo. She has performed with other Music groups such as Soul Food, and Mud River Lee & The Bluegrass Orchestra, with very brief stints with she has also sung with String Cheese Incident (’02 BurningMan) and Old Crowe Medicine Show(’07 Bonnaroo) unbeknownst to them, and in 2011 had the privilege to open for George Clinton & The Parliament Funkadelic with Soul Food. In 2012 she was invited to sing for MICCAH, Milwaukee Inner City Congregation Alliance for Hope, when the celebrated missing Democrats returned to Wisconsin under the guidance of Brother Rev. Jesse Jackson, and sang for Mayor of Milwaukee Tom Barrett as he ran in the two recall elections against Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, because of musical director Lee Modder’s (Mud River Lee) penning of popular political anthems and her work as a calithumpian. Her causes include working with The All City People’s Parade and Pageant and The Milwaukee Public School’s Homeless Community Gospel Choir, prior to her move to Nashville in 2012. She was formerly known as comedic heartthrob Aunt Rose in the longest Off Broadway Touring Production of Tony and Tina’s wedding produced by Kevin Alexander and wrote much of the material used for the character today. She has been nominated for numerous awards, and received in 2009 the highest PEG Award in WI for outstanding work in producing a Cable Television show. She once hosted an Acapella solo show, that was uniquely held in a limousine, she called The Singing Limousine Lady. Lastly, she has two grown children and lives near Nashville with her sweetheart Paris and their imaginary goldfish named after The Incredible Mr. Limpet.
