Recorded Live Stream of Bible Belt Badlands at the Duncan Garage Showroom - Duncan Garage Showroom

"Back Alley Jams"

Tara and Shamus are the duo that make-up Bible Belt Badlands. This band wavers on so many genres (garage rock, folky blues, to straight-up surf) which makes them very difficult to classify in terms of genre, however I feel that is what makes them stand out. This DIY (do it yourself) band is embarking on a Cross-Canada tour with handmade merchandise in tow and I wish them all the best. They were a pleasure to have on the show and I certainly enjoyed Tara’s joking faces to us in the on-air booth, mocking Shamus’ corny on-air banter. However I think they should win the award for swiftest on-air performance, the least amount of dead air for a band that tuned between songs, very impressive.

Active Citizens ( Self Released)

Having been raised bi-lingual, calling various parts of the country home, going from coast to coast and rock to rock and finding themselves lost in the shield; Bible Belt Badlands Tara and Shamus recognize their own backyard. Marinated in several cities musical au joue, these two artists have created something that they can call their own. Drawing influences not only from literature and the many talented home grown musicians but also CBC radio and television (ie. Kids in the Hall, The Friendly Giant...) Bible Belt Badlands is a mixture of wit cynicism and crass reality. Being just over a year in conception BBB are DIY in every sense of the acronym, From creating their merchandise (ie. stickers, posters, t-shirts....), recording their own songs, and planning their current cross continental tour. Since beginning performances in Victoria, British Columbia one year ago this 2 piece band has been called everything from a tail gate band to pulp fiction. Having played with shows with diverse styles from old country to hardcore their spaghetti-western/surf/rock and roll influenced music can hang it's hat in the barns of many styles.
