Big Pollo Funk is a Peruvian band that envelopes sweet and melodic female vocals in the care of Alejaru Rodríguez, with hip-hop influences brought by Tato Elera. The band introduces 13 tracks that fuse funk, jazz and rock seamlessly in their latest álbum, Habla.

The title track is Big Pollo´s manifestó, a fast paced funky jazzy tune that demands your attention. “Habla no te resignes al silencio. Dime algo que importe!” Tato recites. The tune requests that we rid ourselves of trivial conversationes and talk about issues with substance. Aside from the funk inspired trumpets and keyboards, the lead guitar solo bring a genuine rock and roll feeling to the track.

“Tiempo” is a demure song where Alejaru´s sweet voice really shines, transposed with a fluid guitar and rhythmic hip-hop vocals by Tato. Its a song that sings about both promise for the future and promises that has been broken. It shows a maturity in both song-writing and melody which take Habla to the nect level.

“Urbe Extravagante” is a varied track with a catchy chorusand poignant guitar and percussion melodies. An example of how varied rhythms can work refreshingly well together. This last line is true for many songs on Habla including, “El Anuncio del Funky Robot” which gives a disco poppy feel.

“Envolvente” is a fiery song that consumes you with its catchy guitar riffs and perfectly harmonized female vocals. Funk doesn´t get any better tan this!

Big Pollo Funk manages to be thought provoking, and easy to listen to. If you love melody, lyrics that mean something, beautifull vocals, and catchy guitars then Habla is for you. Visit Big Pollo Funk online: - Kesta Happening Magazine
