Big Radio

  Big Radio was formed in 2014 by frontman Darrell Sherbert in Spartanburg, S.C. As a songwriter, Darrell has pulled from many influences and genres to write some soul searching, heart pounding & hard driving songs that he has dubbed "Southern Grunge". 

  "'Southern Grunge' is like imagining if Lynyrd Skynyrd and Stone Temple Pilots had a love child or Pearl Jam got to go back in time and collaborate with Led Zeppelin", says Darrell about the bands sound. That's exactly where some of the influences come from for Big Radio and it shows with songs like "A Better Way", with its bluesy southern intro and verses, to it's hard hitting chorus and high octane ending, to "Nowhere Left To Hide" and "Hollywood Queen" that both have you on the edge of your seat like a rock 'n' roll thrill ride! 

  Bassist Todd Belcher has been on the Big Radio wagon  from the beginning, making him the longest running member of the band. Todd's strong bass grooves along with his commitment to Darrell and 'the band' has been a much needed glue, if you will, to help hold the band together through some tough times. Together, Todd and Darrell have played numerous two man acoustic shows to keep the songs alive while several guitar players and drummers have come and gone over the past few years, and now they are both excited about the 'evolution' of Big Radio....

 ....enter lead guitar player Ash Young. Ash joined the band in early 2017 and played his first show with Big Radio only 6 weeks after joining. "When I heard Zakk Wylde for the first time I knew right then that I wanted to add that 'bad assery' with how I was already playing" said Ash in a recent interview. Before he heard Zakk for the first time, Ash was already ripping it up from a wide range of influences like Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eddie Van Halen and Jimi Hendrix. Combining these styles has given Ash his own original heavy soul sound. Only one thing was missing....

  ....bring in hard hitting drummer Jon Lane. Jon is the newest member of the band having joined in late 2017. A well rounded and dynamic drummer, Jon was the final piece of the puzzle to complete the evolution of Big Radio. Having credited drummers of Tool, Pantera and Clutch as being big influences, it goes without saying that Jon brings the thunder and the back bone to the driving sound of Big Radio.
