"Big City Supreme"

Big City Supreme brings the rock. One of their greatest strengths is to remind you of so many great bands when you listen until you realize they have crafted a unique sound of their own.

“Gold Dipped Diamonds” is like a fascinating combination of the Beastie Boys meets Ke$ha. Solid rock beat, driving bass, and a guitar solo, “Gold Dipped Diamonds” could be the next big party rock hit, or a real head-banging affair (or both!).

“The Upper Hand” is a little bit Weezer, a little bit Red Hot Chili Peppers grooviness. Staccato, broken up vocals punctuated by snare drum hits and a straight up CHILL guitar riff crash together to create something pleasant and so extremely catchy.

“Gone for Good” is all grit and cement-scraped attitude. Borrowing a plodding rock sound from the early/mid 90s, “Gone for Good” is the kind of song that takes a spill on the skateboard, but gets up and wipes the blood away like nothing happened.

"Big City Supreme"

Canadian rock-band Big City Supreme have 3 solid songs posted to their Reverbnation site, my favorite of which is Gone For Good. Riff-heavy driven instrumentals with catchy and poppy vocals overlayed, Gone For Good sounds like a great mixture of old Red Hot Chili Peppers and Canadian-rock-band Sum 41.

As an original rock band based out of Edmonton, Alberta, (Canada), Big City Supreme played their first show only eight days after forming, and continued to rock the Edmonton area for the following year.
-Band Bio on Reverbnation

Indeed, here at Whisker-a-nogo, we are expecting great things from this group of driven musicians in the months to come. Good high-energy rock is hard to come by these days, and it seems these guys have tapped into a very catchy and hard-to-resist energetic frequency that, hopefully, will continue to grow into a North American tour.

"Big City Supreme"

Hailing from Canada, Big City Supreme are fairly new to the Rock scene (forming in 2010) but are showing huge potential as a powerful addition to the scene. Our first taste of what this band can do comes in the form of this three song sampler and as they say in the adult entertainment industry, “small in size, but big in power”. That’s what you should expect from Big City Supreme.

The sampler first kicks off with ‘Gold Dipped Diamonds’. This is a track that packs plenty of punch but still maintains a catchy groove. The riffage is Hard Rock in it’s simplest and purest form. No bullshit here ladies and gentlemen. The vocals are one of the interesting points in this song. Not for a while have we heard a vocalist similar to that of Adam Horovitz from The Beastie Boys but you can certainly see some vocal influence from him in this track and believe me, that’s a good thing. We then go into ‘The Upper Hand’. The track begins with a soft atmosphere, however this track has a few surprises in store. An absolute barrage of power hits your ears as the chorus kicks in with it’s flowing rhythm and pounding percussion. This is a track that I’m sure will translate well to a live setting. The third and final track is entitled, ‘Gone For Good’. This is probably the most catchy song on the sampler and in my opinion, the best. The main guitar riff is catchy and each phase transitions extremely well from one to another. I must also commend the bass guitarist for providing a solid foundation in this song which really brings forward one of the bands strongest attributes. Power.

If you’re looking for some simple Canadian Rock to get loose to, I’d definitely suggest Big City Supreme. This is Rock in it’s purest form and is as catchy as anything you’ll hear on the radio today and I look forward to seeing what these lads will do next.

"Big City Supreme - EP Review"

Some music just sounds great on summer days. Summer is fun and groovy, and the best music should be exactly the same. Big City Supreme, a four-piece band out of Edmonton, is a great example of summertime rock, and their three-song sampler is the perfect thing to listen to on a warm afternoon. This collection is completely solid, and as a showcase of their original song-writing and polished instrumental skills, it is a great introduction to what will undoubtedly be an impressive musical future.

This is a fantastic EP. There are only three songs (torture, seriously) but these three songs are really good and super catchy. Think of older Offspring meets Red Hot Chili Peppers, with elements of Big Sugar and a more pop-punky Blink182. There are some definite Anthony Kiedis-style vocals and with wicked guitar solos and really groovy bass and drums, this is a fab combination of sounds. Each track is great right away; there’s no break-in period or time needed to evaluate, and you’ll be completely hooked from the first listen. Big City Supreme has the skills, that’s for sure, and these songs actually have the potential to be hit singles.

Instruments and vocals complement each other really well. Take “Gold Dipped Diamonds”, for example: the vocals are more spoken than sung, but with bass and guitar providing the melody, it’s still a catchy and singworthy track. “The Upper Hand” and “Gone for Good” follow a similar pattern, with vocals and guitars meshing together to create a solid melody. This is what makes the songs so catchy and memorable, and while it’s obvious these guys aren’t rookie musicians, the songs are simple enough to understand. It will come as no surprise when the band hits the big time, and it won’t be long before that happens.

There are about eight hundred places to hear Big City Supreme’s songs, so take your pick! What do you like better? Facebook? ReverbNation? MySpace? Twitter? Or their website? Even better, look below! Or why not by the tracks on iTunes, 7Digital, or Amazon? We get it, they’re everywhere. This summer, they deserve to be.

"Disc Review"

"Up till 5:30am, i drop into bed. I drag my sorry ass out of bed at 9am groggy and hating life I slunk into the club at 9am to do my daily duties. i walk into my office and there on the desk is a cd from yet another band...oh...but wait I remember talking to these guys at length about this. So I sit my tired ass down in my comfy chair, plug in and turn up and hope for the best. Well i was not disappointed, before long I felt myself getting energized and doing air drums (yes thats right, you know you do it too) recalling when I was a kid my dreams of excellence and rock stardom. Extrememly catchy well written and excuted these guys will make a huge splash live, and I can't wait to see it. This is one band i am absolutely gonna be paying attention to."

"BOTM Showcase @The Pawn Shop"

Big city supreme.
Good energy, vocals to be desired, that being said, the incoherent lyrics meshed in well with the punk vibe. Think early Blink 182, if they were good.
The Ramones wouldn’t have walked out, especially towards the end of the set, when they really brought the energy.

California punk meets Deleware, rooted deep inside the early sounds of California but definitely modified for the upper class pill poppin’ college students that have angst for no real reason, and this band caters to it. This is not a indictment of their performance, just a niche that they might call home. If they didn’t get lost on the way with LMFAO or skrillex, this is the energy boost their looking for. Great Finale.
