Bio

It’s said often that bands bring different influences to a drawing board and come out with something new and fresh. We do not believe we have done this. The infectious love affair with music that is within all five members of Big Crimes brings such musical diversity to our drawing board that our sound is neither new nor fresh. Our sound is a compilation of all sounds before it. We are an eclectic ensemble. We are a tribute of original songs dedicated to all of our heroes. We are street-chic.

We have two guitar players, a bassist, a keyboardist and a drummer. There are two pairs of siblings in our band. We have become a small family and it has been stellar.

Over 6 months ago the idea of Big Crimes became a reality. Some members of the ensemble were new to the inner workings of a band but the veterans quickly brought them up to speed. We come from Pickering Ontario, located just on the eastern outskirts of the GTA. Pickering has very sparse venues or even bars willing to let you move tables and perform, so Big Crimes has become notorious for Pickering guerilla shows or “Secret Shows” as they have been coined.
Using a generator to play under a bridge or in abandoned structures doesn’t mean we are opposed to venues in any form. We love to play in Toronto; people have a greater response to the live music.

Our motto is to get up on stage and have fun and hope that the crowd has fun having fun with us. Bands are too serious these days. We play our music well and that’s the bottom line. The rest is irrelevant to the art. And that is what we are, artists: painters, songwriters, authors, graffiti artists, rappers, poets, and designers.
