Bio

The Big MOOn trio is an Italian jazz combo, born officially in 2002, with a very large stock of original jazz songs and compositions to it’s credit, grown between an intense “live performing” activity and a very professional “studio” experience. Their first EP (2004 - unpublished) contained a selection of jazz standards, with very colourful interpretations and solos, according with the modern jazz tradition of guitar, doublebass and drums combos.
In 2006 Sara Ferrari decided to turn the three musicians to a more original and personal production, selecting a short number of composition of the trio. Together with the famous producer Massimo Luca , finally working as jazz art director, they approach to a very enthusiastic product, where the different sides of jazz melted together as one. A delicate and bright working session, distinguished by a constant attention to melodies, just like it happens in pop tradition. Very soft drum lines, performed by Gianluca Gatti (also performer of rock and pop music in Italy, with a long musical experience to his credit) melt together with the deep and surrounded fretless bass of Stefano “Gatto” Gatti (classic composer and musician from long time, author of several songs of the album), very soft an harmonic bass player who gives to the trio a powerfull support. And guitars sing all Tunes… Melody lines, harmony, rhythm and counterpoint. Luca Lanza (classic guitarist and long time composer) performs a various and peculiar styles, mixing plectrum an fingersyle, acoustic and electric, with an accurate attention to every single sound.
The Music Boats (published separately from gipsy to electric in 2006- then released in a unique session in 2008) results from a very inspired simultaneous recording session, with all musicians playing together face to face, soul to soul, finger to finger. A mix of electric and acoustic jazz, of delicate and low light moments, for long car journey or big moon nights
