BIG NASTY
Chipp Corderman, a graduate of the Music School at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), created BIG NASTY in 2008. Chipp has a rich history of musical experiences including being the lead singer and guitar player in Richmond, Virginia’s FunkRock Band – CoPilot; writing and recording music; and teaching music in the greater Richmond, Virginia community. In creating BIG NASTY, Chipp has focused his energy on bringing together the rich sound rooted in rhythm and blues and a mix of progressive rock. Chipp has been heavily influenced by the work of Sly and the Family Stone, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder, the Beatles, and other music legends.
BIG NASTY combines a unique blend of original music with a nice mix of classics that are traditional favorites. BIG NASTY features Roy Rolph on drums, Dave Tenenholtz on the organ, Phil Pierce on the bass, Carolyn Payne and Hannah Standiford on back up vocals, and Chipp Corderman singing lead vocals and playing lead guitar. The talent of this group is very high as four of the six band members are graduates of the Music School at VCU. Together they provide a very high energy show, with an appealing soulful sound. Because of the unique instrument arrangement of this talented group, there is a wide assortment of music BIG NASTY performs.
