Bio

Big Nothing is a new, exciting and innovative band whose roots evolved from a previous musical venture known as Chesterfield Rock. Founded by Josh Giambattista (guitar/piano/vocals) and Jason Frick (guitar) the band’s line-up was completed with the addition of former CFR drummer Shawn Ritco. The band has been performing together for one year.

Although Big Nothing is a new project the previous accomplishments of the members have been most noteworthy. Experiences such as representing Saskatchewan in the National X’treme Band Slam at Canadian Music Week in Toronto, winning Supernova’s Regina ‘Last Band Standing’ competition; sharing the stage with Wide Mouth Mason; opening for Juno nominated performer Brad Johner; an appearance on Good Morning Canada; and performing on the main stage at the 2005 Canada Summer Games are just a few of their career highlights. Josh and Shawn, as members of CFR, have also released two studio albums - their debut album “without wax” was released in October of 2005, and in 2006 they recorded a self titled album thanks to a 10K20 recording grant provided by Rawlco Radio. Josh was also a provincial winner of the Canadian Radio Star Songwriting Competition in 2006. This prestigious award earned him an all-expenses paid trip to Toronto to attend Canadian Music Week. Two of Josh’s songs “As The Story Goes” and “Tree On The Way To School” have also found music placement in the Global/APTN TV series renegadepress.com.

What makes Big Nothing so unique is their talent in composition, with members Josh and Jason having written over forty original songs. Big Nothing members plan to build on their past successes, learn from their varied experiences and look forward to a long career in the music industry.
