"The Moody Blues like "I'll Surrender""

Big Paper Airplanes sounds awesome, I love the song "I'll surrender", really punchy drums, with a great stereo field. And the vocals sit perfectly on top of some very fat guitars. Fab! Whoever mixed this has great ears!!! - Gordon Marshall

"What Modern Music Should Strive For"

"I'll Surrender" by Big Paper Airplanes is an example of everything that today's modern music should strive for. This single communicates heartfelt, upbeat, and honest emotion. From the inception to the delivery to the production, Big Paper Airplanes is the whole package deal. Nothing is lacking. - Laura Hofford Wilder, A&R (Radio Active Records)

"Song of the Day"

Out of Fairfax, VA, Big Paper Airplanes are on to big things. Their song “Tonight, Tonight” was featured on Our Vinyl’s July 2011 “Back of the Rack.” The four members are all veterans from other bands and bring their experience to create a fine-tuned machine. BPA brings a little of everything to the table: smooth melodies and vocals, power chords, loud drums, a solid bass line and the ability to move the listener. Songs like “I’ll Surrender” are built for the current radio environment and need to be heard in large arenas. Enjoy. - Victor Alfieri, Our Vinyl

"Vocals That Rival Bono and Chris Martin"

From the first listen of Big Paper Airplanes EP, I knew I had to get them in front of as many people as possible. With vocals that rival Bono and Chris Martin and music that is both unique AND familiar, this band is on their way! - Jonathan Chevalley, Music Promoter (Chevalley Artist Management)

"Broadway Loves Big Paper Airplanes"

This band has everything...In their song "Surrender" for example, you can hear slight influences from some of the great pop bands of our time; Coldplay, U2. However, Big Paper Airplanes create a sound completely their own. I'm telling everyone I know to get on board with these guys. They have that "star power" most bands do not posses and certainly cannot attain. I'm a HUGE FAN. - Chad Kimball (2010 Tony Nominee, Drama Desk Nominee, and Outer Critics Circle Nominee)

"Soaring the Airwaves"

Having been in radio a lot of years, I have had a number of artists ask that I give a listen to their new song or CD. Usually I can tell if I like a song in the first 20 to 30 seconds, but wanting to be fair, I'll skip around to the middle and then bounce to the ending to see if there is anything that I hear that would tell me not to write the song off. "I'll Surrender" had my attention from the "get-go"! My leg was moving the entire 3:17! Clean, crisp production and lyrics to match. I can hear Big Paper Airplanes soaring the airwaves of radio! - Barry Lee, Wake-Up Show (92.5 WINC-FM)

Bio

Clean creases of paper meet, folding together to create a simple paper airplane. With the right care and construction, this fragile aircraft will take flight. Without proper attention to the assembly, a destructive crash may follow, further accentuated by the steps of passers by, crushing all its potential.

This same careful construction has been applied to Washington D.C. based alternative rock band “Big Paper Airplanes.” With a warm and engaging sound, BPA released their first EP “Under Blue Skies” in January 2011 with Ian Kaine MacGregor on vocals and guitar, Bryan Kimes on bass, and Brian Fasani on drums. Since the release of their EP, the dynamics of the band changed with the addition of Laurence McKenna as lead vocalist -- a Brit who has created a welcomed alteration to the sound of BPA. With a more melodic and musical approach and a notable difference in their sound overall, BPA’s sophomore release will be on October 23 with their self-titled LP, “Big Paper Airplanes.”

Drawing influence from U2, 30 Seconds to Mars, The Smiths and Coldplay, the band combines lyrics and music rooted in personal experience. With a mixture of reality, relationships, love and loss, BPA project a truthful sound to their music with passion masked behind each individual word of their lyrics.

The music of Big Paper Airplanes is not meant to be a background track or white noise to life—it is bigger than that. Through their careful construction of lyrics, melody, tone, and perspective, BPA has created the archetype of a paper airplane bound for a successful flight. Any interruptions to this will only be integrated into their work, further adding to the inspiration and influences on their music.
