Inspiration comes from the quality of the message and the quality of the message has everything to do with the skill of the messenger. All of these necessities are delivered as a lyrically genuine article from this particular artist that has been telling her musical story based upon what life’s realities have actually taught her.

Introducing Big Rhed…an artist that is capable of bringing you some “get your mind right” R&B vocals while at the same time mixing in some southern style rap flavor for you to vibe to. Consider her music lyrical therapy and a source of inspiration to help you deal with whatever kind of life it is that you are living. She keeps her lyrics with little to no explicitly, but yet has the ability to paint a picture that will bring you up close and personal to what is actually going on in the streets. Big Rhed is not sexually overt with her persona nor does she come at her listeners with a straight up gangster image.

She was born and raised in Austin, Texas and has managed to keep herself right in the middle of Austin’s more than moderately developing Urban Entertainment Business and Music Scene. To her credit, Big Rhed has opened up for artists such as Paul Wall, Jaheem, Mystical, The Hot Boys, Juvenile, ESG, Lil’ Flip, Devin, Chingo Bling, MJG & Eightball, The Ying Yang Twins, Houston, Texas artist C Note and Austin known artist Bavu Blakes, plus she has performed in the South by South West (SXSW) Musical Festival that takes place in Austin each year featuring performers from all over the world.

Big Rhed actually started singing at the age of 4 in church. But it was a little after this from age 9 until age 15 when Rhed worked with another popular artist (also from Austin, Texas) by the name of Nook who helped her to continue to develop her skills in her youth as an artist. It was next in high school when she found herself the only girl at the lunch room table surrounded by guys testing their freestyle rap skills when she discovered her ability to deliver the spoken word as a Rap artist and eventually added the title of MC to her repertoire.

Rhed’s official debut into the music scene was in 2000 on a song called “High Class Lady” which received a lot of radio play on Austin radio station KAZI 88.7 FM and was constantly on KAZI’s Top 20 playlist that consisted of other Texas artist. On this particular song she showcased her skills as a vocalist backing up the rap artists that were on the song. The next very notable song she was on was in 2001, a song called “South Side Hustlers” where she also showcased her skills as a vocalist. This particular song received radio play on the Beat 104.3 FM a very popular commercial based radio station also located in Austin, Texas. It was next in 2003 where she found her current home as an artist for “Barely Broke Records”. She is one of the featured artists on the Barely Broke Records song “Going for Broke”, where she contributed to the song as the vocalist singing the chorus along with a verse she performed as the only female rapping on the song. The record labels owner Alvin Devoe feels “Big Rhed has the total package and that she has the confidence and ambition to help their label and for that matter Austin, Texas to become more recognized on the national music map”.

When you come to see her perform in concert, be ready to be entertained and don’t be surprised at all if you pick up quickly on and then find yourself singing what you hear from her while she is performing. In the future Big Rhed wants to continue to be the messenger and the therapist for those needing a few words to help them to get by from day to day or to put it like she says in the song Going for Broke “the chance of making it against most odds” which is followed a few seconds later by her singing the most memorable part of the song “going for broke…hustling to survive” both statements are clear words of motivation and inspiration for those listening.
