Big Rich

My name is Richard Jones A.K.A Big Rich and I am from LaMarque Texas 15minutes outside of Houston and I have been rapping since I was 13 but I have been doing Christian Rap for 3 years now. I am currently going to Texas Tech University and I have one more semester left until I am finished. I am getting degree in exercise sports science because one day I would love to be a coach. I also played football for Texas Tech for 4years and I was a 3 year starter and after I finished I played pro football in Canada for the BC Lions for one year. I didn’t grow up in a church and I didn’t find the Lord until my sophomore year of college. My mother had me at the early age of 13 and my pops wasn’t there for me. My mother was too young to take care of me so I stayed with my grandma who was strung out on drugs and my grandpa who sold drugs and was a big time dope dealer. I knew the streets at an early age and that is what I adapted to and that was all I knew because I was around it all of my life. When I got to high school I started playing football and it was my freshman year that I realized I could make it the hood and football was my meal ticket. Growing up a lot of people told me that I would be a failure like my pops and that I wouldn’t be nothing in life so that motivated me to prove them wrong so I worked really hard to get a football scholarship. I ended up getting a lot of scholarship offers and I chose to go to Texas Tech. When I got to college my 1st year all I did was party and drink and smoke and lived the life of what most people call the college life. After my 1st year I started the next season of football and after about 5 games I lost my starting job and my life just started going downhill. One of my teammates invited me to go to bible study and I only went because they had free food but a seed was planted. It was maybe 3months later when I was invited to go to a house party and I went. I was drunk and this guy wanted to battle me in free styling so we went at it and I started beating him so he got mad and pushed me and I pushed him back not knowing that his friend was behind me. When I pushed him his friend hit me from behind and about 4 people jumped me and nobody helped me. Once I got up my friend heard that I was getting jumped and I went to my car and I grabbed my pistol. My friend who is real close to me wanted to shoot the guys for me so we started fighting for the gun and as we were fighting for my gun bullets were falling out of the chamber, but the only way that can happen is if you keep cocking your gun but we were not doing that at all. He finally let go of the gun and I saw the guy who hit me so I went up to his car aimed at his head and shot at him. I missed him and still to this day I don’t know how I missed because I was only a foot away from him, and after that 1st shot I kept shooting but nothing came out because remember those bullets were coming out of the chamber when my friend and I were fighting over the gun. Gods grace and favor was upon me that day and it still didn’t get my attention because after that happened my friend and I got into my car and chased those guys. I ended up running a stop sign and made a U turn in front of a cop car that I did not see so we got pulled over. We had guns pills and drugs in my car but once again Gods grace and favor was upon me because the cops let us go and didn’t search my car because my friend knew the cop that pulled us over. That still didn’t get my attention because 2weeks later after a show I had did I got into with a teammate of mine and the guys I was with pistol wiped him and jacked his chain. I knew he was going to call the cops so I hurried up got into my car and left, and as soon as I pulled out of the garage 3 cop cars surrounded my car. I tried to put my gun under my seat to hide it without the cops seeing it but my handle under my seat was broke so I could not get it under there. The gun was out in the open and you could definitely see it. The cop told me to get out and go sit in the back of the cop car. She asked me if I had any weapons in my car and I told her no not knowing they were going to call in a search warrant. After they gave the cops the ok to search my car for the time I prayed sincerely to the Lord and asked him to get me out of this situation and if he did I was gone stop living this life and give my all to him. After I prayed I opened up my eyes and the cop started searching my car and I started praying again. After she finished she came back to the cop car and said I was free to go the 1st thing I did was look for my gun and my gun was under my seat. I thanked God and from then on I have been living my life for the Lord. Football had started going ggod for e and again and I got my starting job back and in the process the Lord also blessed me with my beautiful wife whom I have been married too for 2 years now. After that I still wanted to do music but I never did Christian rap because I thought that was fake to me s
