BandRockBlues

Jon Nick and James blend rock, pop, blues and surfer-soul into their songs. The live show is where they excel. You never know who they will bring along. From horns to steel drums, distorted lead guitar to banjos. The songs are always new to your ear but your heart sings along word for word.

Biography

The boys of Big River Ransom have eclectic and diverse musical backgrounds and tastes.
From Jon's time in Colorado bar tending and playing the blues to Nick's time in a punk band each member has had experiences that shape the music they write. Their songs are a mix of surfer-soul, classic rock and indie alternative.

They have been influenced by Elvis, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Neil Young. Their modern musical interests include Mason Jennings, Jack Johnson, Pearl Jam, and Dave Mathews. Still, Big River Ransom manages to stand out uniquely while incorporating some amazing traits of their mentors in the music industry.

In order to bring a diverse and original sound to each and every live performance, the band calls on their friends to play with them. Jon, Nick and James surround themselves with horn players, blues guitarists and steel drummers who are all amazing musicians on their own. The diversity makes each show unique. The songs stay the same, and the sound is always electric, different and spontaneous.

Currently, Big River Ransom is branching out into new parts of the Long Island where they haven’t yet played. By coming to venues in Huntington, Long Beach and Fire Island the band is creating new opportunities for themselves. As the band gears up to release its debut album “Whiskey Rebel” in the spring, the new venues are the starting point for what they hope will be new fans and new experiences.
