Big Sky

BandAmericanaCountry

Rootsy rock with a dash of blues and homespun country. Adult contemporary.

Biography

"Big Sky" originated as the `house` band for the Australian Independent Country Music Awards held in Mildura each year. As time passed it became clear that the band was not only a great backing band, but had a lot to offer as an entity of it`s own.
With regular appearances on the Sydney gig circuit, "Big Sky" have developed a loyal following. Their live set draws heavily on their `Americana` influences, with songs by Lyle Lovett, Delbert McClinton and Bonnie Raitt mixed in with their own original tunes.

Back There from Here

Written By: Paul Gibbs

Back there from here (P. Gibbs)

1) 3AM on a restless night, you reach across to gently stroke her hair.
The darkness quickly sheds it`s light on the realization she`s no longer there.
Who`d have thought you`d throw away her pure love you held so very dear.
It wasn`t all that long ago, but you can`t get back there from here.

2) God knows you should have walked away from that little something on the side.
Told her you were working late. She was smart enough to read between those lines.
The gold earring she found inside your car made everything so very clear.
You`d sell your soul to turn back time, but you can`t get back there from here.

If you could just turn back the page, erase the pain that caused her every tear.
Deep down in your heart you know, you`ll never get back there from here.

3) You couldn`t help yourself last night, your trembling fingers dialed the telephone.
How soon your heart sank through the floor when you heard his voice, she was not alone.
A woman needs some comfort too and now you realize your greatest fear.
You`d love to be there in his place, but you can`t get back there from here.

If you could just turn back the page, erase the pain that caused her every tear.
Deep down in your heart you know, you`ll never get back there from here.

(Bridge) You could spend a lifetime looking and never find a heart that`s so sincere. Don`t try to retrace those steps. You`ll never get back there from here

Something about a Child

Something about a child (P. Gibbs)

1) 7.30 Sunday morn he runs through our bedroom door,
says Dad it`s time to play.
You worked late so I let you sleep, get out of bed, kiss you on the cheek.
Our little man can`t wait to seize the day.
And the weight of the world comes down to size
When I see the wonder in his eyes.
It takes me back to yesterday.

(Chorus) Something `bout a child gets you through the hardest times,
and comforts you from somewhere deep inside.
Something `bout a child makes me understand,
Somewhere there`s still a boy within the man.

2) Sometimes you and I may not see eye to eye.
Times are tough and money`s tight.
Oh, but when he smiles our way
Everything`s gonna be OK
There`s no wrong that can`t be turned to right.
