"Big Tech Interview on WWS Magazine"

Tell us about where you are from and how you got to this position today.
I’m from the “Triple D,” Dallas Texas to be exact! It took a lot of hard work and determination, a lot of late nights and early morningd, not to mention the sleepless nights of just grinding non stop and mastering my craft.

Tell us more about the current song you are promoting to everyone.
I’m actually in a unique situation. I have two new singles off my up and coming EP “It Was All A Dream” which will be released Tuesday October 23rd that have the internet going nuts right now. They are both two totally different vibes/genres. “All Night Long” is that typical chick song that all the ladies love to hear and “Reflections” has more of a pop/crossover type vibe that is just real life music, which addresses some of the sacrifices I’ve had to make in life to do this here music thing. Both Official videos can be viewed on my site www.bigtechlive.com and both singles are available on iTunes, Google Play, and all online major distribution companies.

Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in the industry?
I think it’s a challenge I have to constantly face on a daily basis, and that’s being labeled as a “Latin Rapper” and not a rapper that just so happens to be Latino. You see, being Hispanic in this game people automatically assume that your music is “The Lean Like A Cholo” type of shit, not that there is anything wrong with my people doing that, but that’s just not what I’m about. I encourage people to go to my site, listen to my music, and see what I have to offer.

What was one of the biggest set backs in your career and how did you bounce back?
I wouldn’t necessarily call it a set back, but if you’re not careful in this game you can find yourself in a rut. I remember when there was a time I was doing show after show after show on a local level and felt like I was getting nowhere. I had to analyze the situation and realize who was I really reaching and how was I being perceived. When people can touch you all the time you just become that dude that raps but when you take the time to build your brand, master your craft, and create anticipation that’s when you got something. I tell people all the time if you don’t look at yourself as a business you’re wrong. Your number one question to yourself should be “What have I done lately to raise my stock price?” It’s chess moves not checkers, ya dig?

What are some things artists need to be careful of?
Be skeptical of everything and everyone! Everyone in this game is out for theirs and theirs alone. It’s a dog eat dog world out here mayne. If you’re not up on your business best believe you will get taken advantage of.

What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?
Publishing, publishing, publishing! Educate yourself! Take the time to get your business right. This game is 10% talent and 90% business. If you’re not familiar with publishing, performance rights organizations, and copywrites you need to stop putting music out and read up on it first. It’s only gonna help you.

What is one of your favorite ways to promote yourself and your music?
Times have changed! Although I love the face to face interaction and meeting new fans the internet is where it’s at. Instead of being at one place and promoting to five hundred to a thousand people you can be everywhere at once and reach hundreds of thousands with one post. You do the math! Social Media is where it’s at for me. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, all those online sites/blogs.

"Takin the Music World by Storm"

Dallas native Big Tech has always been faced with trials and tribulations from a young age. His biggest challenges were dealing with his father’s terminal illness of Lupus at the age of eight, going on with enlisting in the Marine Corps while becoming a young father at the age of 18. Tech often used music as his form of therapy.

“My father is the reason I began my love for music. Him having Lupus, I was his primary care giver at the age of 8, I would hear all of the classics from being with him,” Tech said. He recalled that he had to grow up fast, having to sometimes drive his father to the emergency room, as he struggled with the illness. He would galvanize his love for music with a love for hip-hop, which became his main source of therapy and outlet.

Tech founded Scratch and Spin Productions in late 2001. In 2009, he gained over 100k listens/downloads on the Internet from his mixtape “Dallas All-Star.” The positive response inspired him to go back and complete school as a Recording Engineer.

In the interim, Tech has been mastering his craft and has recently released his first single off his forthcoming E.P., “Big Tech Ft. Lara Janine – All Night long.” It can be purchased on iTunes and all major online distributors. The official music video for the single can be viewed at his YouTube channel: bigtech907 http://youtu.be/PeMwm_4O6Jw.
In late 2012, Big Tech will be releasing his newest work, “It Was All A Dream” The E.P. The response he has been receiving from this first single has been reassuring that we have a hit on our hands.
