"PREMIERE: TAKE A HAZY, GUITAR-FUELED TRIP TO BIKINI TRILL’S “GHOST TOWN”"

Our favorite stoney electronic-dancehall trio Bikini Trill just dropped an old-school double-sided single and today we’re premiering one of those tracks, a spooky-sexy, ethereal electro-funk jam called “Ghost Town.” With each release their indietronic, Sublime-with-female-vocals vibe is solidified but on “Ghost Town” they move even further into the space-pop realm. If you live in LA come out to CIA, legitimately the weirdest venue in town, in North Hollywood tonight for their release party. - NEST HQ

"Bikini Trill drop hazy new track “Sticky Treez” [Premiere]"

Bikini Trill are a dub-pop trio based out of Los Angeles who’ve just shared their first single, “Sticky Treez”. They’ve named themselves as a cheeky nod to seminal 90’s riot-grrl group Bikini Kill, and here vocalist Lauren Johnson is in a sense channeling the punk swagger of Kathleen Hanna – only curbed & reimagined as reggae-infused trip-hop.
“Sticky Treez” was initially inspired by an eccentric t-shirt worn by one of the members, depicting three aliens in a classic car. The slick vocals are offset by persistent, reggae-ish guitars and the nimble playing of bassist Kourosh Poursalehi – while syncopated, trap-inspired drums give the track a certain sunlit bravado. Meanwhile, surf-rock tremolos from guitarist Tony Stern and some distant, dreamy brass keep things eminently chill. - EARMILK

"Bikini Trill Release first single..."

Have you ever seen a UFO? Me: not so much. What I have seen is the serious star potential of Bikini Trill in their very first release “Sticky Treez.”

Bikini Trill is a trio that have created a track that is both deliciously dank to get down to, but also impressively crafted in a professional way. I believe that musicians who are able to cross genres, and create with artists from other styles is a testament to their skill, and those who wish to do this should take notes from the single.

“Sticky Treez” contains mainly elements from reggae, ska, electronic, and bass. Lauren Johnson’s vocals are sweet and clear, but with a trip-hop edge as she croons “Cruisin’ / are you fellas lookin for a bruisin’? /Cadillac Coupe Deville/ we’ll steal the shoes right off your feet.” Her icy-cool voice is perfectly paired with the rich, and steady rhythm of the percussion.

The song was inspired by one of the band’s T-shirts which was three aliens riding in a classic American car. That image sounds as weird and chic as the song does, and also explains the hot Alien for the single’s cover image. It is as if the band are not really humans, but extraterrestrials who listened to all of the best 90’s music and figured out the best way to hypnotize us all: great music.

I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to board the Mother Ship, and excited to see what else this group has in store for us. Check it out below. - Mix 24/7 EDM

"MP3 Leak Of The Week"

Out of Los Angeles, CA comes an elctro-reggae pop group that goes by the name Bikini Trill. We’re giving away their debut song “Sticky Treez” as we get to know the new 3 piece taking on a progressive approach with their sound. Download the song and read up on the group…

I have to admit I thought this group was fairly more seasoned when I heard “Sticky Treez” for the first time. What I was listening to was the groups very first song — their first single ever! And for that, I liked the song even more.

The song was initially inspired by a skate T-shirt depicting three aliens riding around in a classic car. During a writing session, the group’s singer, Lauren Johnson, started to freestyle about aliens who landed in California and fell in love with the golden states laid back vibe.

As the group explains: “We started this project a little over 3 months ago and ‘Sticky Treez’ is the only song we’ve released — it’s a stand alone single, but will most likely end up on our first EP. It was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Paramount Recording Studios in Hollywood, CA”

"Bikini Trill Brings The Dub Fueled Reggae Skank You Didn't Know Your Weekend Needed"

Shoutout to the electronic-pop-dub trio Bikini Trill for their masterful use of old school marketing tactics that totally worked on myself and the great people of North Hollywood this week. I saw the following poster on a walk yesterday and stopped everything I was doing to check out their first official release, “Sticky Treez,” I totally dug it, and Instagram-ed their artwork immediately.

The track blends an electronic soundscape with hip-hop drums, skank island guitars, and sexy pop vocals for a vibe comparable to No Doubt on some of their dub-bier b-side cuts. Their Facebook profile promises releases coming this year on Moving Castle, look forward to that and in the meantime enjoy the audio-consumable-version your favorite “Sticky Treez.” - Nest HQ

"Bikini Trill "Sticky Treez""

Leave your worries behind with Bikini Trill and their debut single “Sticky Treez.” The Los Angeles-based trio makes their mark with an overwhelming amount of “skank-island” influences and bright melodies. Cruising down a laid-back disposition, “Sticky Treez” becomes perfect for any state of mind, additionally adding an extra amount of sunshine. Fusing reggae with an electronic twist, an insanely catchy hook, and the most carefree, glowing vocals, the end result is a feel-good track. The coastal atmosphere become anchored to the sound bites and strong rhythm section, while the breaks dip into a pop-esque realm, similar to the likes of No Doubt during the revival of new-wave. In the words of Bikini Trill, “It’s the weekend, do your thing don’t tread on me.” - Girl Underground Music
