"10 Toronto Bands That Should Be On Your Radar"

“Julie Reich a.k.a. Bile Sister a.k.a. DJ Garbage Body first came on my radar as an associate of Wolfcow, but the alien soundtracks on her solo joint for Inyrdisk sent my brain sideways,” says Locke. “Now, she’s expanded the project with a full band of her own to pump up the warped diskotronix from her latest album, Faucet.” - Aux.tv

"100 Essential Canadian Songs 2013"

Song "Reptile Tenaka", Fruits Compilation - Healing Power Records - Wavelength

"Let Your Feelings Overtake You: Chandra Reckons With Her 12-Year-Old Self"

"The show was originally proposed by Bile Sister front woman and Chandra-obsessive Julie Reich as a tribute show, but when Chandra Oppenheim caught wind of Reich’s enthusiasm, she decided to join in the celebration herself. “It’s amazing,” she says. “It’s just so neat to hear about someone who loves something that I wrote. Even if it’s a relatively small group of people it’s still incredibly satisfying, so when Julie said she wanted to do a tribute to Transportation I got excited and said ‘well I want to come up and do some songs!’”-Chandra - chartattack.com

"Healing Power Records has Many Moods on new collection featuring Jennifer Castle and Man Made Hill"

"Healing Power Records's last compilation F R U I T S featured the decadent sectioning of each song into individual tracks. Not so for the follow-up tape, The Many Moods of Healing Power Records, which stuffs the tracks onto two sides, or "slices." You'll have to scrub around and take notes if you want to isolate all the brand new songs from an eclectic mix of great Canadian artists like Jennifer Castle, Bile Sister, Petra Glynt, and Man Made Hill. Check out the track list below the stream." - chartattack.com

Cakes music video release via Pinball Sessions - "Toronto’s own Bile Sister have joined the ever expanding roster of bands to appear on the Guelph based live session site Pinball Sessions with this latest video for their track Cakes. The band have evolved in recent times from being the solo project of front woman Julie Reich, to a full band arrangement, and this live session is an excellent encapsulation of their woozy weirdo aesthetic. The video also comes in the build up to the launch of a new Pinball Sessions website, which will be happening next week. The Pinball folks have done sessions with several Silent Shout favorites including Phedre, Odonis Odonis and Diana and are well worth checking out."

For the New Release: YlangYlang – Tender Freaky Sexy Moments compilation, Jeunesse Cosmique Lable (Montreal)-"The last we heard from the inimitable Bile Sister, she was guesting on a Janet Jackson cover with Montreal’s YlangYlang. It must have been a great collaborative fit, since this new song comes to us from a compilation by Jeunesse Cosmique, a label that represents other featured artists such as Telephone Maison, Hazy Montagne Mystique, and YlangYlang herself. The compilation is called “tripping” after its stoner vibes, but it could also easily refer to the unpredictable and uneven beat of this particular offering." - Silent Shout

"Pile of Best Albums: Bile Sister - Faucet"

"Bile Sister, aka Julie Reich, is set to release Faucet on Healing Power Records. This stunning album, gorgeously shrouded in overdriven minimal electronics, effects-laden vox, and left field pop leanings, aptly captures an inspired DIY sensibility characteristic of decades past, while still sounding novel and undeniably forward-looking. Several unpredictable yet highly rewarding moments make Faucet such a compelling listen, like the abrupt rhythmic shifts amid Reich’s soaring vocal near the end of “Ponds”, or the jagged structure of infectious album highlight “See Breezes”. We strongly recommend a thorough listen, as this is one of the finest albums of 2014 thus far.
Faucet officially comes out on February 8th, but you can, and should, get it now via Bile Sister’s bandcamp. Physical editions are limited to 50 cassettes and 125 CDs." - Silent Shout

"New Release: F R U I T S compilation"

"For this incredible compilation from Healing Power Records, Stacy Sproule and Victoria Cheong asked some of Toronto’s best female musicians to contribute a track exploring the them of self-healing. The resulting fruits are dark and twisted, but ultimately delicious. Some highlights: Bile Sister vomits out impressive synthy sludge and Petra Glynt makes us need her soulful vocals and driven percussion. Though our favourite part comes at the end of the disc, with Tenderness‘ “bucked and blended” hymn. We never thought we’d be so into a song with a refrain of “Jesus!”" - Silent Shout

"Bile Sister"

Bile Sister’s quirked synth disco chugs along as front woman Julie Reich’s undulating vocals become another rhythm on top of their layered electro-pop. Their sound oozes out of the speakers like radioactive slime on tracks like ‘Jesus House’ where perfectly placed keys cut through the gauze of samples and synth bass and drums. Bile Sister are growing new heads while unwaveringly delivering danceable avant sounds. You can catch them in Toronto tomorrow with Teen Tits Wild Wives (another session we’ve got in the bank).

"Various Artists - The Many Moods of Healing Power Records"

The old adage about something being in the water really rings true for the city of Toronto. There seems to be a plethora of psychonauts exploring the outer fringes of way-out music, in a cornucopia of genres and modes of expression. Wolf and VC over at Healing Power Records have been documenting the Toronto freak scene for ages now, dropping missive after glorious missive into the wild. Bile Sister, Man Made Hill, Hoover Party, Not the Wind Not the Flag… all have unleashed unruly artifacts for the label that are certainly worth tuning in to. Each offering is in its own way a totally mind-bending experience, re-compiling a listener’s grey matter into exotic new shapes. The Many Moods of Healing Power Records serves as both a point of entry for label neophytes and a sneak peek of what’s coming down the pipe for those of us who have already basked in their unhinged glory. The compilation features new and yet-to-be-released tracks from the Healing Power roster, including a handful of live tracks recorded at various locales by scene curator Joe Strutt of the Mechanical Forest Sound blog. From the free shredding of Gravitons to Man Made Hill’s otherworldly slither-funk to Jennifer Castle’s glorious songsmithery, this package spans both Healing Power’s oeuvre and that of Toronto’s talented sub-underground. Bile Sister and Petra Glynt pontificate and palpitate, while Fleshtone Aura and Skull Bong wrangle warped waves of wizardry. Particularly enchanting is a ghostly remix of “Caroline, No” from Wildlife Rodeo (Mike Smith and Matthew “Doc” Dunn, both of whom are in far too many projects to list here) recorded live at the last All Toronto’s Parties festival. That Wolf and VC have been able to assemble such a diverse crew of sonic sorcerers over the years is a testament to how devoted they truly are. Their love for the musical magic that lies beneath their city’s surface shows in every project that Healing Power undertakes. The Many Moods of Healing Power Records is available now from the label’s Bandcamp. - Decoder Magazine

Bio

Bile Sister was founded by Julie Cylia Reich in 2013. Julie emerged from Toronto's experimental/noise scene (VAJJ, Wolfcow) and busted out her own lofi weirdo pop sludge, recorded primarily at home. She started performing the songs live After INYRDISK label released her first album in  2013, entitled "Octant Brim". Then, she went on to release her next full length with Healing Power Records, "Faucet", after having contributed to a successful Healing Power compilation entitled "Fruits", guest starring Lido, Petra Glynt, Isla Craig and other fabulous Toronto female artists. Since, Julie has added a band to her live getup. She has collaborated with many artists and other labels (E.g. Jeunesse Cosmique, Montreal) and is part of a vibrant music/arts community in Toronto and elsewhere in Canada, performing some top shows and really hittin' the scene hard!  Bile Sister is currently working on a split LP to be released on Reel Cod Records and a new full length album, in addition to some other cool releases and videos in the works. Look out for Bile Sister's next full length album, and plans to tour by demand are in the works!
