"Distance Passed"

Great Driving Rhythm Guitars and Lead Vocal

1) Great, driving 12-string guitar rhythm work.

2)The treated lead vocal is also very good, with great phrasing and an outstanding husky tone.

3)The organ/keyboard chording at the 1:20 mark provides an understated yet effective solo. The keyboard returns to prominence toward the end of the song, as well. The choppy chording and single note playing sounds great and really ties the song together.

4)The rhythm section is tight and is also understated while still being propulsive.

5)Great set of lyrics. "...never find there's one wrong track..." is a great hook line for the song.
Great song lyrics of seemingly bittersweet regret coupled with a resolve to not worry about the past.

Overall, a great song that deserves a lot of airplay.

"Take Your Pick"

Kick ass!
Thank you for getting this song out there! The organ/bass line in the intro is beautiful, production is stunning, the vocals are strong and remind me a little of Kevin Welch. Keep playing music, this stuff needs to be heard and heard over and over until we all get the picture. My only complaint is that the vocals could be turned up a little more so that the lyrics are more prominent. Thanks for writing music that makes me remember why music was written in the first place; to move people, to tell stories, and to remind ourselves how to live.

"River Town"

Reminiscent of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, this number swings along in a sordid narrative of small town pathos. Our unlikely hero revisits his hometown and murder and mayhem ensue. Spare arrangement and instrumentation underscore each verse and hook with restraint.

Sound quality and production are a perfect canvas for this dark rendering of parochial tragedy. Any attempts at polish and embellishment would detract from the pulp fiction ambience. The focus here is the story. The lead vocals embody the kind of emotion that you’d expect from a soul trying to internally rectify unbearable turns of events.

Crafted in the right colors, textures and flavors, it’s one of those sneaky tunes that have a lot more to them than meet the ear.

Could grow on you, if you’re not careful.
