"Chanteys for Landlubbers"

Bill Dempsey ... brings real world experiences to his seafaring folk songs..
His mighty baritone showcased on "Away Rio!" and his harmonica work on "Shenandoah" are among the countless highlights...lovers of folk...apreciate his authentic and stirring performances accompanied by guitar, five-string banjo, harmonica or any .. number of acoustic.. instruments.

""Shanty Man" CD review"

Bill Dempsey ... offers up an appealing collection of shanties that go back to the times when the great tall sailing ships crossed the open seas. ...
Dempsey sings in a full baritone, and his rough-hewn delivery of these shanties...
keeps true to the way it must have been heard on the great tall ships more than a century ago....

Bill Dempsey will be performing his shanties at the San Diego Folk Heritage's Sea Chantey Festival on the Star of India, Saturday, May 18, at 11 a.m.

Bio

My music is a blend of acoustic American folk music, jazz, and tin pan alley with a little bit of salt sprinkled in. (Yes, I do sea music.) Most folks notice my voice although I can pick (listen to the samples on my website).
