Traveling Light

Written By: Bill Goff

Early on a Tuesday morning, 5:30 she takes a bag from her closet and fills it up
With a couple of tank tops some shorts and flip-flops she doesn’t pack much cause she knows it’s enough.

She pins a note to her new ex-lover who’s passed out on the covers from drinking to hard the night before
Saying I’ve wasted four good years and there’ve been too many tears for me to ignore.

She doesn’t want that kind of past, Strapped and tied town to her back, or have to live with a future like that

She’s travelin’ light, she’s travelin’ free,
Takin any road that’s gonna lead
Away from her old life and find a paradise
Down under some palm tree, where she can leave it all behind
She’s travelin light

Out on the west cost he throws all of his clothes and what ever he can fit in the trunk of his car
He pulls out on the highway, says good bye to LA and I don’t need that girl any more

Cause she never let a moment go where he didn’t know who was running the show
And he sat in denial for a while till one day she got mad at him for just crakin a smile

He doesn’t want that past, Strapped and tied down to his back, or have to live with a future like that

He’s travelin’ light, He’s travelin’ free,
Takin any road that’s gonna lead
Away from his old life and find a paradise
Down under some palm tree, where she can leave it all behind
He’s travelin light

Out at some dusty roadside Texas Dinner they run into each other
He looks at her she looks at him they both know where the other’s been
So he buys her a drink, lifts up his glass, and says, “here’s to forgetting the past”

They're travelin’ light, They're travelin’ free,
Takin any road that’s gonna lead
Away from there old life and find a paradise
Down under some palm tree, where they can leave it all behind
They're traveling light

Left Of Center

Written By: Bill Goff

There was a time when I knew everything with a fresh off the press four year degree and a five year plan that laid it out as simple as can be

I started down the right road but I don't know, somewhere I took a wrong turn now I'm lost and all mixed up and don't know which way's up

According to that map Ishould be making 40k
Drive a big black dodge with a marraige underway
But I still drive a beat up jeep and I cant' get a date

I'm so far left of center I'm comming back 'round again
None of this looks familier from what that post card said
I'm not where I want to be, but I'm happy where I am
I'm so far left of center I'm comming back 'round again

Well I lift my head up and look around everything is upside down
and nothing seems the same as I thought that it might be

Like Willie Nelson wearing New B's and what I want may not be what I need
And all the things I did wrong are not mistakes at all

According to that map I should be living in LA
Married to some actress with a daughter on the way
But I'm still here in Nashville and I can't get a date

I'm so far left of center I'm comming back 'round again
None of this looks familier from what that post card said
I'm not where I want to be, but I'm happy where I am
I'm so far left of center I'm comming back 'round again

I'm so far left of center I'm comming back 'round again
None of this looks familier from what that post card said
I'm not where I want to be, but I'm happy where I am
I'm so far left of center I'm comming back 'round again
