"Everyone can enjoy a piece of this versatile guitarist's work!"

"Instrumental guitarist Bill Palmer has just released his latest studio album entitled Outlines, an album containing rich distorted textures, washes of chorus and delay, wah infected slide, jazzy-esque single note lines and stark yet memorable melodies. Dynamically the record ranges from melancholy and emotional to hard-hitting rock, ensuring everyone can enjoy a piece of this versatile guitarist's work. If you're interested in seeing him live, Palmer will be playing a couple of shows next week to showcase some of his new material." - Time Off Magazine

"Shred, shred and more shred. There's an outline for you"

"Shred, shred and more shred. There's an outline for you.
The close-up photography of a guitar on the front says it all: Bill Palmer loves to play. Face-melting runs, complex arpeggios, ultimate picking the likes of which Dragonforce would be proud to put there name to - this is a guitarist's wet dream. It's like lsitening to the greatest car racing video game soundtrack ever produced. Your blood's pumping, waiting for the lights to go green as the songs build. A nice rhythm guitar gets you going through the chicanes. You're building speed. Suddeningly your in the mountains, turning and sliding with Palmer's fretwork at a breakneck pace. Subtle gear changes keep you in control, keep you focused. You hit the home straight with Outlines leading you on with a two second lead and bragging rights over your buddies for the rest of the evening. Thank you Bill Palmer: you've inspired me to take up Colin McRae Rally once more." - Rave Magazine - Review by Lindsey Cuthbertson

"Great guitar album ~ by Bilbo Bumper"

"This is quite simply one of the best guitar albums I have heard in a long time. Palmer has a fresh sound and an inventive songwriting gift. The album has a great flow and avoids the typical guitar album cliches of over playing and repetitious song structure. 5 stars and well deserved!" - iTunes (AUS)

"One of the greatest all-around guitar instrumental albums ~ by Sheikh Y'bouti"

"I really can't say enough good things about this album. I've enjoyed listening to guitar instrumental albums
since I was a teenager (e.g., Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Andy Summers, George Benson, Jeff Beck, Larry Carlton, etc.).
However, I rarely ever enjoyed a full album from start to finish--usually just a song here and there. This album
is another story. Australian Bill Palmer puts down eight magnificent multi-layered tracks that blend virtuosic
demonstrations of rockin' guitar mastery at a controlled pace with warm jazz overtones and an inviting pop
gregariousness a la Lindsay Buckingham. Not a single time-filling repetition in the whole run. To borrow a term
from Eddie Van Halen, this album is comprised entirely of the "brown sound." Please listen to every preview and
consider buying the full album, keeping in mind that no 30 second sample can capture the spirit of any of these tunes.
Each is a complete composition that weaves together multiple themes. It's a steal at $7.92. I can only hope
Mr. Palmer will someday tour the U.S. I will do whatever it takes to see him play live." - iTunes US

"Industry Opinion"

"Outlines is hardly just another guitar album but rather an evolved musical statement from a creative, original and diverse artist" ~ TJ Helmerich (Mixed and Mastered Outlines at the Recording Institute of Technology, California).

“Outlines has raised the bar for instrumental music in Australia and I feel will become a benchmark for anyone wishing to pursue this craft. It displays an extremely well-rounded musician who plays not only with an obvious mastery of technique and accuracy, but also with heart and conviction which can easily be overlooked in the pursuit of so-called perfection. Bill has hit the sweet spot with this first recording effort and shows not only great accomplishment, but also massive potential to become one of the greats not only of his home country, but also in the cut and thrust of international music."
~ Randall Waller (Shania Twain's guitarist)

"M8, your material is awesome - great stuff!" ~ Mark Holden (Former Australian Idol judge and songwriter/producer) - Various

"Listen Up"

Bill Palmer's Outlines is guitar pickers' heaven. In one respect it's like a Sara Lee apple studle...layer upon layer of guitars. But no need to put this in the oven - there is plenty of heat already emanating from it. It features some cranking melodic lines, excellent thumb/plectrum work, and the occasional blistering solos with some tapping for good measure. But it's economical - not histrionic for histrionic's sake. Keys, bass and drums complement the guitars on this instrumental recording. You'd expect effects on a guitar album and there's a range to choose from here. The songs are catchy and original.

"Rockin' CD - Rockin' Prize"

GUITARIST Bill Palmer is continuing to affirm his reputation as one of Austalia's top young guitarists with the release of his first album Outlines. The 29-year-old was first noticed by the mag when a copy of his impressive book Concepts of Jazz, For All Musicians landed at Australian Guitar HQ back in '05. Since then, Bill has refined his style even more and has mastered his own blend of rock, ambient and jazz playing and has even caught the attention of music identities like Mark Holden and Randall Waller (Shania Twain's Aussie touring guitarists), as well as fans in the UK, Germany and the USA impressively, big-shot producer TJ Helmerich mixed and mastered Outlines, Himself a master guitarist best known for his collaborative work with Australia's Brett Garsed, Helmerich was so impressed with Palmer that he has been gushing with praise, saying he treats the guitarist's tracks "like his own."
What's more, every new CD purchase of Outlines from www.tonefreakrecords.com is automatically eligible to win an Ernie Ball MusicMan Silhouette Special guitar valued at a hefty $3,250. Nice one! - Australian Guitar Magazine
