Bill Robinson

BandCountrySinger/Songwriter

I write songs about everyday life. Rarely sugar coated. If it's a fact based story I won't change the outcome just to make it commercial. I also write fiction. I have more freedom with fiction so I can turn a sad song happy or a happy song sad. I like to throw in a little Rockabilly for fun.

Biography

I have been compared to Kris Kristoferson, John Prine, Bruce Springsteen. I don't know. I don't think I am anything like either of them. Or anyone else for that matter. I just sound like me.
But, I do love their music so I guess they must influence me.

Walk On Out Of Here

Walk on out of here

She was sittin’ ‘cross the table…. Starin’ at her old wedding ring
I held her hand in mine …Tried to think of something
To say to make her change her mind
Wiped my eyes with my hands …. felt a lump in my throat
When I tried to speak it hurt So I whispered the words….
Afraid of the answer that I’d hear

Chorus
When we kiss do you feel nothing ….Can you deny the passion that we shared
Can you look me in the eye and tell me you don’t love me after allllllllllll
Can you say those words to me then get up and walk on out of here?

Verse
She raised her eyes to mine…. desperation in her stare….
It was plain she was in pain and when she finally spoke….
I heard those words I didn’t want to hear
She said you know I really care ….But I told you from the start…
If he’d take me back I’d leave I don’t want to break your heart….
Now I’m getting’ up and walkin’ out of here

Chorus
When we kiss do you feel nothing…. Can you deny the passion that we shared
Can you look me in the eye and tell me you don’t love me after allllllllll
Can you say those words to me then get up and walk on out of here

Bridge
She walked away from me, didn’t say anymore
I was talking to her back when she walked out the door

Chorus
When we kiss do you feel nothing…. Can you deny the passion that we shared
Can you look me in the eye and tell me you don’t love me after allllllllll
Can you say those words to me then get up and walk on out of here
Up a 4th
Can you say those words to me then get up and walk on out of here.

Verse
Was another night of cheap red wine A night spent beggin’ for nickels and dimes
Wipin’ windshields down at Fifth and Main Then into the alley to buy from the man
He crawled in the dumpster he called his home He’d spend another cold damp night alone
His old Navy coat was faded and worn Didn’t do much to keep an old man warm

Ch
A fifty cent lighter and a small metal spoon
Cooked up the magic his peace would come soon
The dope played its trick on his tortured mind
He promised himself this would be his last time

verse
People would see him and wonder why He kept living this way just waitin’ to die
They’d never ask or really want to know What brought this man down so long ago
He’d long forgotten what made him this way The weakness that broke him a little each day
He dreamed of a good day somewhere in his past For just a few hours that’s all it would last

Ch
A fifty cent lighter and a small metal spoon
Cooked up the magic his peace would come soon
The dope played its trick on his tortured mind
He promised himself this would be his last time

Bridge
The places it takes you are in your mind
You’ll only be there for a very short time
But then you come down and you’re still all alone

Ch
A fifty cent lighter and a small metal spoon
Cooked up the magic his peace would come soon
The dope played its trick on his tortured mind
He promised himself this would be his last time

Tag
He promised himself this would be his last time this WOULD be his last time

Remember Me

Remember Me
©2006 Bill Robinson

Verse
I’m sitting on the roadside by this cross on the Oak tree
And wondering if in your afterlife you remember me
Oh! I wish I could have been there to hold your hand
When you left this earth to enter into the promised land

Chorus
Oh! The days are so lonely and the nights are so long
I can’t stand livin’ since you been gone
Darlin’ I miss your touch, and the good times and the bad
How we stuck together when love was all we had
Oh-oh! Will you remember, will you remember me

Verse
I went to your gravesite and fell down on my knees
And prayed to God in heaven you would remember me
When my life is over and I leave to follow you
I hope you’ll be there waiting at the gate to lead me through

Bridge
I could stand this livin’ if only I could only see
You waiting there in heaven, waiting there for me

Chorus
Oh! The days are so lonely and the nights are so long
I can’t stand livin’ since you been gone
Darlin’ I miss your touch, and the good times and the bad
How we stuck together when Love was all we had
Oh-oh! Will you remember, will you remember me

Discography

I have released my first CD.
Tides Of Our Lives.
It is a collections of songs that represent the good and bad times of our lives. The songs range from a simple acoustic guitar/vocal to a crunching electric guitar driven song about the ravages of a liftime of drug abuse.
My songs are on www.soundclick.com/billrobinson
and MySpace under Bill Robinson. I also have a website. www.dreamqueststudio.com

Set List

I don't play large gigs so I have a fairly short set list. 12 songs is my average. I will vary the songs depending on the venue.
