Bill Ward

I've been playing the piano and singing for my entire life. In my freshman year of high school I began improvising and writing my own music. I was given an electronic keyboard and used that and a computer to make recordings of the songs I wrote. My recordings include other instruments, all of which I play through my keyboard, and I dream someday of having a band to perform with and write for. My primary influences are Billy Joel, Elton John, The Fray, Gavin DeGraw and Bruce Springsteen, among others. At the same time, I find it hard, when asked, to tell someone "my music is just like ___". I like to think that I take elements of what I hear and infuse them into my own creations which collectively form my style. What is my style? As best I can describe it, I write on things that are important to me or to someone else, whether that's a relationship, a way of life, a change in life style, etc. As a result I have songs that range from slow ballads to up tempo rock. I have enough of a spectrum to tailor my performances to any venue. I've recorded close to 60 songs to date (though I'm proud of maybe a quarter of them) and am constantly writing new material. I have a self produced CD debuting on iTunes this summer. I've been performing my own work and as a member of high school and collegiate a cappella groups since my sophomore year of high school and thoroughly love the stage. Recording and writing have always been a favorite hobby of mine, but at the urging of friends and family I'm starting to perform at small venues in my area and at events at my school (Georgetown University). I hope to continue to fuel my passions for writing and performing by bringing my music to more people in the future.
