Billy Anne Crews is an Americana artist that resides in Southern California. If Courtney Love played Country music, then You'd get BAC.

Biography

Billy Anne Crews has played music since she remembers being alive. Billy was born in Waukegan, IL and raised in Chattanooga, TN. While most kids were out doing what they do, Billy was in her room listening to records and studying the lyrics. Decades of piano lessons and a music degree later, Billy still just wanted to plug in a guitar and write songs.

Even though she played several instruments over the years, Billy really loved singing and writing lyrics the most. 80s and 90s indie rock had a big influence on Billy's songwriting, but so did many singer/songwriters that she loved so well.

Known as the Southern Grunge Chick, Billy plays a unique style of music in the Americana genre. She resides in Los Angeles, CA and continues to play clubs in the US and England.

Lyrics

Don't Want to Settle

Written By: Billy Anne Crews

Don’t Want to Settle

It’s almost like
I can feel relief
If I don’t talk to much
It’s almost like
I can feel relief
If I don’t expect too much

CHORUS:
(2x) I don’t want to settle
For what I can get
I’ve been here too long

I don’t even use
If I had no more
‘cause I don’t believe in regrets
I don’t even use
If I had no more
‘cause I’m no longer scared

CHORUS

And it I had not asked
For what I wanted
I would still be there
And if I had not asked
For what I wanted
You’d still be in my prayers

CHORUS

Gasoline

Written By: Billy Anne Crews

it’s five o’clock
and I’m awake
I take the trash out
for the dogs to raid
I put the coffee
on the dashboard
I turn the key
and release the brake

I guess I need some gasoline
Just trying to make it
through this week
I guess I need some gasoline
Just trying to make it
through this week

I wish I had some place to go
Just trying to rescue myself
From this same old road
And even if I could leave
This whole town would follow me

I guess I need some gasoline
Just trying to make it
through this week
I guess I need some gasoline
Just trying to make it
through this week

I’ve slammed the door
on all my dreams
Before I could lay me
down to sleep
And even if I could scream
My heavy eyes would silence me

I guess I need some gasoline
Just trying to make it
through this week
I guess I need some gasoline
Just trying to make it
through this week

Hard Life to Live

Written By: Billy Anne Crews

She had a Bible
And a 45 beneath it
She had a Bible
And a 40 in her hand
She asked Me
If there's something better
With no reply
She shook her head

CHORUS:

She said there'd be a
Hard Life to Live
If there was nothing in her hand
She said there's be a
Hard Life to Live
If She tried her luck again

Somewhere down in Mississippi
She was stupid, dumb, and blonde
Somewhere down in Mississippi
She was divorced at 21
He left her nothing but a taste for whiskey
He left her nothing but despair

CHORUS

She said I guess
I'm a sinner
So I'll drink the bottle dry
She said I guess
I'm a sinner
So why even try

CHORUS
