Bio

Billy was born in 1968 in Yallourn, Victoria and grew up on a small farm just outside of Moe in eastern Victoria. The youngest of four children, he grew up listening to his father sing the songs of Hank Williams, Charley Pride, Kenny Rogers and Slim Dusty. For as long as he can remember music was a part of Billy’s life. Growing up in a musical family meant that music was never far away.

Over the past few years Billy’s star has been on the rise with many accolades and awards. In January 2002 he graduated from the CMAA College of country music and released his first EP, Lonely, Lonely Town. The EP has received wide airplay both in Australia and overseas. “ Billy delivers with strong vocals and there’s no denying the country in his make up.” - Jon Farkas, Country Music Capital News, May 2002.

In July 2002 he appeared on the Slim Dusty traveling show, performing at Slim’s request. He has also appeared extensively throughout the country both solo, with his brother Steve and with his traveling band “Hillbilly Heat” and has a live stage show that leaves audiences craving more. With major performances in 2003 at the National Music Muster at Gympie and all of the major venues in Tamworth 2004 he is a much sought after live performer.

He was the 2003 Male Rising Star in the Telstra Southern Stars, Independent Country Music Awards of Australia. Tamworth 2004 also saw him as a Top 5 Judges selection in the Toyota Country Music Awards of Australia, a winner of the Vocal Collaboration section of the TIARA awards and a 3 time nominee in the ACMLA People’s Choice Awards.

He released his debut album “Post-It Note Proposal” in 2003 and the first single Mallee Dust was a top 5 hit on the Australian Top 30 Country Tracks chart. His songwriting and storytelling ability endears him to country music fans everywhere. From festivals to clubs and pubs the response has been nothing short of phenomenal.
