Lyrics

August twenty ninth

Written By: Billy Libby

I never knew
Though I asked
You never told

If it’s alright
Or all gone wrong
I write letters
To help move along

But they’re never sent
Never mailed
So they’re never read

But when I read what’s on your mind
Through the greatest view with my two eyes
On yours

Now it’s August twenty ninth
The end of summer came
And so did goodbyes

As I just got knocked off
Of my two feet
And I curse the ground at my defeat

Cause I’m always on
Up to par and up to speed
But it feels like that notions lost
And what has kept me on has been shut off

Now its getting dark
I’m growing tired
And I’m running low

On cigarettes and alibis
To explain where all this wasted time
Has gotten me

So caught up in all those nights
We spent together when August twenty ninth
Had seemed so

Out of sight
Out of mind
Now I don’t know

How to get out of
This story I left untold

As I just get knocked off
Of my two feat
And I curse the ground
At my defeat
As I get back up
I just can’t believe
That this happened at all
That this happened to me

Cause I thought I was in control
Yeah to be honest I never doubted that
But it now seems that nothing has gone to plan/But the cards were never there in my hand
As soon as I found out the fall could hurt so bad

I guess it’s no surprise
The air is getting cold
And when you shut the door
The wind left my mind blown

And I just got knocked off
Of my two feat
And I cursed the ground
At my defeat
As I get back up
I just can’t believe
That this happened at all
That this happened to me

Cause I thought I was in control
But I, was just plane out of it
