Billy Patrick, who has performed widely in the Lehigh Valley as Leechboy, was what the other acts should have been on his set of original songs and covers.
He had a rollicking four-man band (including some great turns by omnipresent Valley fiddle player Nyke Van Wyk). He played with a lot of energy (at one point, he did eight straight spread-legged jumps in a row). And his songs were very good, too.
“Playing Around” was an especially good original. And his covers included ones the crowd really liked – such as Alabama’s “Mountain Music,” with a crazy hoedown fiddle by Wyk as the crowd clapped along.
