Bio

Billy Simons is not a musician, but rather a lyricist and a poet. In fact, he considers himself to be a narrative songwriter, who derives much of his inspiration from his own personal experiences and other real life accounts. Billy has an uncanny knack for taking bits and pieces of reality and weaving them together, to create rich, lavish stories. In fact, isn't that what good songwriting is all about?

As a lyricist only, Billy rely's heavily on the collaborative process, seeking out other artists to put melodies and music to his lyrics. As a result, Billy has created songs in a wide array of genres, ranging from Blues, Rock and Country, to jazz and folk. Hats Off, which is a collaboration between Billy Simons and Damien Goudreau, is a contemporary rock tune about taking your hat off at the ballgame during the playing of the national anthem. Hat's Off is currently being reviewed by several music indusry producers and publishers.

Billy is always looking for an opportunity to collaborate with fellow artists. Therefore, if there's a lyric of Billy's that is of interest to you, and you think you have what it takes to create a powerful melody and vocal performance to bring it to life, please contact him to discuss the possiblities of working together. As Billy's personal library of songs continues to grow, he is quickly establishing himself as a top-notch storyteller and lyricist, with a unique point of view.

Some of Billy's musical and lyrical inspirations include such artists as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Ray Charles, Solomon Burke, Gillian Welch, Cat Stevens, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, The Grateful Dead, Jim Croce, Alison Krauss, Lori McKenna, Alan Jackson, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Waylon Jennings, and the one and only, Johnny Cash.
