Bio

Billy White is a daring composer/pianist who manages to create sonic textures which are simultaneously invigorating and sublime. He was awarded a full scholarship to study with Kenny Burrell, Tom Ranier, and Gerald Wilson at UCLA, where he graduated with a degree in Ethnomusicology. A film composer, producer, and educator, he is also an innovative pianist and a composer with a flair for creating interesting musical situations.
The rythmic backbone is a dynamic duo from the Islands. Steve Belvilus, born on the Carrobbean island of Guadaloupe and working as a hip hop drummer in Paris Belvilus came to New York in 2004 and has been working as a top-flight jazz and hip hop drummer, backing up the popular French vocal duo Les Nubians as well as up-and-coming jazz talents like Eric Lewis.
Yunior Terry is a virtuoso bassist from Camaguey, Cuba, the youngest son of one of Cuba's most gifted musical families, "Los Terrys".
Since Graduating from the Monk Institute in 2003, Dayna has been performing and teaching actively. He plays regularly in San Francisco & New York City and has performed in recent times with Salvador & Carlos Santana, Kenny Barron, Roy Hargrove, OZOmatli, Patrice Rushen,Tom Harrell, Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Jeff Parker, Freddie Hubbard, Steve Coleman, Oliver Lake, Eric Gravatt, Ndugu Chancler, Idris Muhammad, Bobby Short, and Josh Roseman. Dayna also plays upright bass and has performed with Stefon Harris, Marcus Belgrave, Sonny Fortune, Roy Hargrove and Natalie Douglas.
Tumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire was born and raised in Oakland, California. Before he was eighteen, Ambrose had already performed with such famed musicians as saxophonists Joe Henderson, Joshua Redman, Steve Coleman, and drummer Billy Higgins. After graduating from Berkeley High School in 2000, he moved to New York to begin a full scholarship at the Manhattan School of Music, studying with Vincent Pinzerella from the New York Philharmonic, Dick Oatts, Lew Soloff, and Laurie Frink. Ambrose is a 2007 graduate of the Masters program at University of Southern California, and also the Monk Institute of Jazz, Ambrose’s instructors include Terence Blanchard, Billy Childs and Gary Grant.

In the past year, he has worked with such artists as saxophonist Jimmy Heath, pianist Jason Moran, trombonist Hal Crook, Bob Hurst, drummer Terri Lyne Carrington, double bassist Ron Carter, trumpeter Wallace Roney, pianist Herbie Hancock and saxophonist Wayne Shorter.
