Binary Controllers

Binary Controllers

 Oakland, California, USA

Binary Controllers is a live electronic band based in the San Francisco bay area. The band straddles a musical timeline, drawing inspiration from classic funk, rock, hip hop, and soul, while exploring the limitless possibilities of modern electronic music and new technologies.

Formed in 2010, the band is the brainchild of guitarist/producer Forrest Roush, who got the project rolling by recording some initial demo tracks. Forrest, a veteran to the music industry, has toured the U.S. with a variety of musicians spanning many different genres of music. He has shared the stage with acts such as The Goo Goo Dolls, Flogging Molly, Blackalicious, AFI, The Coup, Saul Williams, The Vandals, and Sum 41... just to name a few. His prolific background in music lends itself to the eclectic sound of the Binary Controllers, which straddles classic funk, rock, hip hop, and soul; with the incorporation of modern technology and electronic sound. His work attracted the interest of drummer Brennan Houlihan, and the duo continued to build on what had been started. The group was soon rounded out with the addition of vocalist Ariane Mitchell, whose soulful voice, emceeing skills and artful story telling in the form of song writing, proved to be a perfect match for the electrofunk instrumentals.

Guitarist/Producer Forrest Roush, with the assistance of Drummer Brennan Houlihan and Lead Vocalist Ariane Mitchell, cranked out a full length self title album in 8 months, which was just released in February 2011. The album quickly created a buzz on the West Coast and the debut single, "Share the Love" earned radio play in Seattle Washington on KBCS FM 91.3, on KPOO FM 89.5 in San Francisco, and SF Pirate Radio 96.1 FM.
