Bio
Halifax ex-pat Matt LeBrun (The Mendozas) writes and records demos in rehearsal spaces and apartments around Vancouver. With the help from some friends, Chris Martell (the Mendozas), Sean Ramsay and Ellis (Concrete Lions), the Bionic Owls becomes a rock band. Talk about performing the songs loud and live is just that… Talk… until one of the demos lands the Owls project a spot in SHINDIG, CITRs annual battle of the bands (2006). More shows and more songs to follow.
The Bionic Owls are, in the simplest terms, an indie pop/rock band. a loud and catchy one¦. kinda Minneapolis in the 80s¦ kinda Halifax/North Carolina in the early 90s¦ Maybe a dash of classic Manchester and pinch of Athens¦. with a rhythm section reminiscent of the Who, a guitar approach that strongly suggests Crazy Horse and Thrush Hermit, and (hopefully) the tunefulness of records like Pinkerton, Rock n Roll Over and Bandwagonesque.
The Bionic Owls are always worth your 7 measly bucks at the Railway club¦
