The Cumbrians' mature & versatile sound belies their years & its surely only a matter of time before the arenas beckon, so catch them now or forever curse your hesitancy. - Richie Farrage, The Fly
Standing in front of Birds-vs-Planes it quickly hits home that they, and very probably unknowingly so, are the best band in the region. Give it a while and they’ll no longer be tagged as a ‘Carlisle-band’ but instead, one of the rising stars of the north. - Chay Woodman, Kerrang!, Cumbrian Newspapers. Wickerman Festival
Birds Vs Planes have a modern take on northern post-punk with plenty of bite. There's a fantastic contrast going on between the deep swirl of ILikeTrains-ish post-rock-indie guitars and Jenny's upfront vocals. A truly excellent frontwoman she's melodic and assertive and got that cool-without-even-trying Karen O attitude thing and stage presence by the shedload. There are actually more delegates watching the band than hammering the free bar, which has got to be a first for in here. Anything else? Yep - a seriously powerful rhythm section. The complete package, basically. - Cath Aubergine, Manchester Music
Jenny has a glorious gut-kicking set of pipes that soar, Linda Perry style. Musically, Birds vs Planes score points in a New York-y grunge meets Brit Pop way, sliding from thumping power ballad to jittery pop cakes. - BBC Introducing
This is the kind of number I could imagine being played at Glastonbury by a top of the bill act. - Ian Denoir
One of the most powerful voices since PJ Harveys’s debut album. Soaring one moment, whispering the next; threatening and seductive and playful and spellbinding...who cares about name changes when the music is this good!? - Andrew Black
Irresistibly catchy. - Jo Wiley, MTV, BBC Radio 1
They’ve supported The Mystery Jets, We Are Scientists, Late of the Pier and Ida Maria and the buzz surrounding them is indicative of big things, already being compared to No Doubt and Arcade Fire by awe-inspired gig-goers. Swirls of post-rock-indie guitars fuse Jen’s delicate yet dominant voice into a powerful weapon. - The Courier, Newcastle Union
