Bio
Birds vs Planes are part of a new wave of alternative bands breaking out of the North East and Cumbria scene in recent years, following in the footsteps of fellow locals Wild Beasts, Little Comets, and Shields.
In 2011, the band were invited to perform on the BBC Introducing Stage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend event. Following support slots with the likes of Mystrey Jets, We Are Scientists, Ida Maria, Polarsets, Late Of The Pier, Hot Club de Paris, Airship and many more, BVP have a strong cross-over appeal spanning all manner of genres. Utilising an eclectic bunch of influences, the sound is best described loosely as post-punk, with shades of everything from spacey post-rock to modern indie and alternative eighties and nineties bands. Signing a record deal with new independent label The Music Bakery in 2011. As the distinctive buzz surrounding the Cumbrian five-piece continues to grow, the stage is now set for the release of Birds Vs Planes debut EP in Spring 2012.
